Judd had one a half great years (2004, first half 2006), a couple of good ones (2002, 2003), and a couple of so-so ones (2005, 2007)

he was playing for the m&m's in '08 not eagles. (and he as AA captain, J. Brown was victorian captain). Plus his '08 was so-so and his '09 was reasonable.

How he got picked in the AA squad, let alone team in '08 and then made captain was just astonishing rubbish.

Yeah Judd's crap now. Completely irrelevant to the football community. That's why people don't even talk about him. Not the same player that people thought was amazing when playing in another state. Now he's moved to Victoria, to a club people love to hate and ........

This Judd hate which has come about since he chose Carlton (and in most cases with this thread, not your club), was always going to happen and should not have surprised anyone.

This thread should now be retitled the 'Pick the Flog' thread. If he's so irrelevant leave it alone.

It's exactly this kind of denial that ensures Judd will do it again. Because everyone makes excuses for him (or covers for him at the Tribunal like Brown) he'll remain convinced it's something he's not just allowed to do but has a divine right to do.

What he did to Rischitelli was EXACTLY the same thing he did to Brown in intent if not in outcome.

His finger only came anywhere near the eye when Rischitelli moved his face TOWARDS Judd's hand after he had been giving him a bit of a massage, and the moment he did, Judd quickly removed his hand because it was very close to the eye.

You're usually a very sensible a quality poster. I'm flabbergasted that you don't see this one flaw in Judd and acknowledge it's weakness. Damages you, damages him.

Doesn't do squat to me. I called it based on what the video showed and commonsense. No idea what you called it based on. The Brown one I grant you was in the eye, but even then we know he was underneath Brown and unsighted.

I don't believe it actually. For expediency, I said it because that is what we effectively got done for, not gouging. I think he was giving him a good old fashioned facial massage (which I also think is a cheap shot tactic for the record), and to draw attention away from attempted gouging claims, he managed to make himself look sillier with the pressure point rubbish.

There was a lengthy thread on this at the time and my thoughts were made very clear. No gouge, no pressure points, no idea what the hell he was doing, just silly and inappropriate contact to the head/face.

Yes, some of it is about jealousy, some of it is about Carlton...

But it's also about honest appraisal of how perceptions of Judd as a player have changed over the last three or four years.

I still think he's as good a clearance player as he ever was or anyone has ever been. I also think he's lost just a touch of pace (through injury) and has never been the greatest kick - something that's only now getting mention.

In short he's a gun.

However, he's also shown a certain petulance and recklessness towards opposition taggers that I don't remember from 05/06. He's also followed up eyegouging Campbell Brown in 07, with a very similar act in 09. As well as busting Pavlich open with a reckless elbow. The latter is forgivable as it wasn't calculated and is something most footballers will do at some stage in their career. It's also not his fault the MRP disgracefully ignored the incident.

What's NOT forgiveable is repeated eyegouging incidents. Especially when it's later "laughed off". This has changed my perception of Judd as a player and person significantly. And quite rightly.

Anyone, even or especially Carlton supporters, should feel the same. He's better than low acts like that and should stamp it out from his game.

Easily the greatest Eagle. Still great to watch, but when at the Eagles he was on target to be the best midfielder ever. It's a bit sad that he isn't as explosive. However he's still an absolute bull at the stoppages and still quite quick. I don't give a rats about this umpire favouritism. I just want him to be the explosive power he was 2003-2007. My friend's girlfriend reckons she knows the reason he isnt at quick and it isnt his groin..well it is sort of

Groin injuries (over it or not) still leaves a scar on the body and lots of sex doesn't mix. Thats what I believe your mrs believes.

Cant bel;ieve you would have Judd ahead of Cousins or Jakovich, or even Matera.

I am of that range and no way would I have judd as the best eagle. Cousins did more than Judd but Peter Matera was still my favourite midfielder

People need to get over hating players and just enjoy them for what they are. Judd may have his flaws (although i dont see any) but all the hate he gets is ridiculous. Just sit back and marvel at how hard he works for his possessions and his strength to shrug off tackles and fire out handballs from contested situations. He is a gun and nobody is as good at his role on the field as juddstar himself.

Absolutley loved to watch him at the Eagles, I remember a couple of his games against Brisbane at the GABBA, mind blowing. But at Carlton he just pisses me off because the media give him too much attention, and the only reason he made the AA team last year was because of his name. I guess OP has cruelled him to an extent too, because he certainly is no way near the player who won the Brownlow in 2004. And this is more the AFL's fault, but he receives far too much latitude on and off the field.

He's the first player to leave the eagles that I've actually started to dislike more. Usually it works the other way and I suddenly find players more likeable once they aren't wearing bluenyella. (Michael Gardiner being the other notable exception).

I actually used to like Judd at the eagles and in theory I *should* like him even more now since he ran out on their crumbling evil empire and left them on their knees. But I find him a very dislikeable chap on the field these days - an arrogant whinger who's started believing his own hype and who resorts to cheap shots when he's not allowed to play the way he thinks he has a god given right to.

Now, that takes the cake!
The thing that fascinates me is that he never seems to complain - he has two and three people hanging off him/blocking him at every stoppage and he doesn't get the free kicks warranted by those actions (four games in a row earlier in the season he received not a single free kick!). I find it astonishing how, week in week out, he just focusses on getting the football.
A fantastic footballer - certainly in the top 5 that I have ever seen.

Respect him as a very talented footballer, however I do not rate his leaderships skills or capabilities. Again, neither of these are really his faults.

He was born with innate athletic abilities and has worked hard to be elite, but by the same token probably isn't a born or natural leader and regardless of effort put in, doesn't really shine in this department.
