what judd lacks now is the x-factor, highlight reel stuff. the freak goals and unbelievable evasion are in his past, and they wear eagles colours.
the funny thing is, thats the only thing most victorians used to see of him each week. and now they think that he has lost a yard of pace and cant do it anymore, they think he is gone.
but what your left with when you take away judds x-factor and evasion is what eagles fans saw and carlton fans see every week. the best in and under clearance player in the league with an amazing clutch ability.
now the cynical might saw "right so what youve got is matt priddis with no hair and a massive trade table and TPP cost" and thats not tremendously far from the truth. but he is and was massively important to carlton every day he has been there. seriously a guy with that sort of quality and professionalism (ie, eagles quality and professionalism ) is exactly what they needed from the morass they were in, and he is the perfect senior player to lead all these young quality players by example.
he is the ultimate club culture development tool. imagine if martin, reiwoldt, deledio, rance et al had chris judd leading them at training for the last few years? has richmond even got anyone that has stood on the dias and hoisted the cup? let alone a premiership captain, brownlow and norm smith medalist?
and being paid a huge amount outside the cap and under the table means that he is pure cheating carlton arseh*le now too.
