I was never the biggest fan of this bloke. I wasn't in the 'drop Masten' weekly club, but most of pre 2018 this guy just irritated me. His 2011 was ok as a young bloke in a top four team, his 2012 was excellent as makeshift HFF, his 2013 was excellent but the club sucked arse so it was forgotten. From 2014-2017 he was just an annoying figure to watch.
Amazing how a premiership can fix everything.
Was, statistically and structurally speaking, one of our most important players last year. As one poster said, less than two clangers a game from almost 20 disposals, as well as running 15km a game, is a damn fine achievement in a premiership side.
I am now fond of the bloke, mainly thanks to his contributions in becoming a premiership player. May Masten's legacy live on.

I like Masto seems to be a funny sort of guy but can be infuriating as a player ..

By a weird coincidence, Chris Masten and Josh Kennedy who were both part of the Chris Judd trade over a decade ago play their 200th game for WCE this weekend. Haven’t checked the previous pages - apologies if somebody mentioned this before.

Masto has played his role good on him, have heard him mention the shit he cops and seems to handle it pretty well.

Surely there is nothing a Freo supporter could possibly say that gets under anyone’s skin?? I mean what have they got?? The best they try and do is take the moral high ground and demand Gaff spends 64 years in jail, while forgetting all the thug acts their players have done over the years, or some of the even worse cases of violence by their players off field.

2014-17 were spent trying to play him as something he was not and 2018 saw him get back to basics. He's hard working, an immaculate trainer and appears to genuinely love the club.
For someone regularly potted for being 'soft' or concerned about his looks, his resilience cannot be questioned. At so many points could he have thrown in the towel or spat the dummy as he languished in the 2s, but he didn't and now he has a medal.
That's 400 games and two premiership players from the Judd trade. A win in anyone's books.

Yeah don’t see how you can fluke playing professional sport for so long. Any one of us would be proud to play one AFL game so to play 200 for a strong club, as a guy who grew up supporting the eagles, and then win a premiership after so many years must be a dream come true for him. Good on him.
I’m sure I’ll curse him during games for stuffing up, like I would any player, but you can’t take away the fact he’s achieved a fair bit and forged a good career for himself.

Yeah but McCarthy lead into Jack Anthony who then lead into Colin Sylvia who is now untrollable what with being dead and all. Look I see a big shift in the Freo supporter base having come across a few hundred different people everyday in my job and the day will come when they outnumber us. Everybody loves the underdog and one day you might find yourself in a room full of Docker fans and your getting strips torn off because of players like the above mentioned, he is one of our very few current trollable players. Anyways I'm allowed an opinion, lefties don't allow anyone to have an opinion other than their own.
