Yeah but McCarthy lead into Jack Anthony who then lead into Colin Sylvia who is now untrollable what with being dead and all. Look I see a big shift in the Freo supporter base having come across a few hundred different people everyday in my job and the day will come when they outnumber us. Everybody loves the underdog and one day you might find yourself in a room full of Docker fans and your getting strips torn off because of players like the above mentioned, he is one of our very few current trollable players. Anyways I'm allowed an opinion, lefties don't allow anyone to have an opinion other than their own.

"With being dead and all" ? Are you for fcuking real ! You maybe in your 50's as you proclaim, but you are pathetic and a disgrace. I too am in my 50's, and certainly don't swing green or left, but common courtesy and decency is an attribute that I admire. Your opinion in my opinion is shit. Just don't know what to say, just wow.

Interesting that it's open slather on a Masten forum, no holds barred with rubbish.

But a Priddis related thread gets shut down, heavily deleted posts,

Just very interesting
Pretty sure the mods step in around 7000 posts or so.

This has a bit of life in it yet.

I'll call out both.

If you're still crying about Priddis you really need to reassess your priorities.

I remember reading an article somewhere where Masten said Sam Mitchell told him to stop trying to work on his weaknesses and instead work on making his strengths even bigger strengths. Run your opponents into the ground, you're never going to be an inside beast.

Seemed to have given him a lot of confidence last year after a couple of difficult years where they tried to work on his inside game when he is an elite gut runner. I think a similar thing happened with a lot of the squad last year, things were simplified.

200 games and a premiership. Would take that every day of the week. A pick well spent. %(#^ the haters.

He admits that he didn’t become the “superstar” he was hoping to be, but was happy about how his career panned out.

“Coming in I had high expectations of myself and you have those external expectations as well,” Masten said.

“A few injuries didn’t help me and I probably got in my own head and things were pretty hard, but a lot of young players have that.

“I didn’t become the superstar that I wanted to be, but I’ve still had an impact for the team in whatever role I could do so I’m happy.”

Takes a bit to be able say things like that while still playing. The flag probably makes it easier though.

Yes he gets tackled and it's mildly amusing if we win, devastatingly frustrating if we lose, but the inability of people to comment on Masten's good plays during a game and obsess about errors that aren't even his fault are insane!

He could have someone handball behind him and have to reach back to grab it with one hand and people wouldn't notice how poor the handball is, they'd just bag Masto. It happens on here and at games and it's pathetic. People need to take every game and every individual play for what it is. Just calm down.

He's not perfect, but he's a better player than anyone else here, he understands the game and can't be questioned for mental strength. He's a good user of the ball and has positioning smarts. He covers for others on defensive transition and will sacrifice his own game in a heartbeat to just do his role and bring more talented players into the game by linking between them.

Congratulations Masto!

I hope the team plays better this week, Masten included.

I've had my differences with Masto man, but great job and durability to get to 200. I can now sit back and laugh at my frustration with him because he actually seems like a guy I'd get along with at a local footy club but get infuriated with on the field. Great achievement and well done. Hopefully he's dual premiership player Chris Masten shortly

You have to nod in respect to any player who makes it to 200 games in such a toughly contested competition.

Better player than me, thats for sure, .................. by 200 AFL games.

All Clubs need the hard working blue collar workers.

So well done on a pretty special milestone.

Yeah but how many WAFL Colts games did you play

You're the one stating he's one of the best, so really the onus should be on you, but I'll produce 15 better players.

1. Kreuzer
2. Cotchin
3. Henderson
4. McEvoy
5. Dangerfield
6. Rioli
7. Tarrant
8. Taylor
9. Rance
10. Ward
11. Thompson
12. Steven
13. Wood
14. Hooker
15. Walker

Whatever the parameters for 'the best are' (Top 5, Top 10, Top 15 etc) he's definitely nowhere near it. Handy player, and good outcome getting 200 games out of himself, but he's by no means achieved what was expected of him at the time.

No sure where this perception this is an average AFL draft is coming from either. It's mid-range overall, but had some incredible top-end talent taken in the first round, hence why the Masten selection is more disappointing.
Masten it comfortably ahead of kreuzer.
That was a bomb #1 pick

I thought he was terrible last week & a chance to be dropped, however he wasn’t alone there. With this weeks shared milestone game perhaps given a reprieve?
But good on him for 200 games & a premiership, shows that he plays his role for the team which is all important in a team sport.

The club should have tried to work on his inside game as soon as he walked into the club and not 10 years later.

JK in his interview with Schoey was saying how the club was very fitness focused when he first came here and fundamental skills and etc were not worked on as much at training. They expected players to work on it after training. He also said theirs been a huge shift the other way now.

Good on him. Fair effort by anyone to play 200 AFL games these days in a fully professional sport. Was never the greatest and won’t ever be, but who cares, team sports need all sorts and he’s played his role well enough to make it to 200 and a premiership to go along with it. They can’t all be JKs and Nic Nats.

Well done Masto, top effort and hope he has a good game and helps us get a much needed win.
Just has to find a mrs with some serious toe in the running department - olympic sprinter or suchlike and start breeding like crazy for f/s prospects.

The club needs a geneology branch for matching our players with women that have complimentary genetics for our players drawbacks so we can ace the f/s game

Fast runners for the mastens and priddi

Tough knees for nn

Testicles for cale morton

Masto was good on this week's eagles backchat podcast, I thought.
Very self deprecating. Obviously well liked by Schoey and Butler.
Can see why he would be popular in the squad.
Well done Masto on the 200. Team player.
Maybe it will go full circle when you retire and get back into work at the Eagles store.
