Did he really fold or just make Richmond think he was folding to get exactly what he wanted? Still don't think much of this trade.
Trades aren't meant be an exciting side show. It's about identifying needs and getting good value.

We effectively picked up a guy drafted at Pick 6 for this years pick 31 and next years Hampson. We packaged that up into a Pick 19 which is really only worth pick #24 after the academy picks.

Now that's entertainment!

It's how I see it. I don't rate your side against the others. Geelong, Port and probably Collingwood will be better than you next season. North can stay ahead of you. Adelaide is the only team that might drop, though their forward line is damn impressive. Midfield will be their issue.

Its ok mate, nobody cares what you think :) We will make the eight, book mark it and knowing your jimmys will be rustled is just a bonus when we do lol

I'm confused we still have pick 12 when I look at the draft order then I look at our list and I see Ben Lennon on it and Chris Yarran.
One of the genius pony up or gtfo Carlton types in here care to explain?

And the "Richmond should have some balls and make a deal" types should learn a lesson about what having the balls to make a trade actually looks like.

I can't hear any of them commenting because they're being drowned out by the sound made by all the back-peddling.

Ahhh what.
So everything thinks he folded, but secretly he got what he wanted? What.
Wouldnt it he said he wanted 19? Then he gets what he wanted and no one thinks he folded?
SOS has said the entire trade period that Carlton want a first round pick for Yarran.. He never said we want pick 12

Carlton received pick 19 (End of FIRST round pick) for Yarran... Carlton got what they wanted, Richmond got what they wanted

Fair trade... SOS didn't 'fold'...he was patient and didn't automatically agree to a trade just because it fits his minimum requirements. He waited a while to see if there was a way of getting other picks/players/clubs involved to put Carlton into a better position in the end. Eventually that didn't happen so he/Carlton agreed to pick 19, a first round draft pick. Which was the minimum that Carlton would accept for him

But if Richmond fans want to high five each other and act like they pulled off the coup of the century, feel free. Just don't drag SOS's name through the mud for trying to get the best deal possible for his club

Classy Richmond supporters.
Please the pony up or gtfo brigade deserve everything coming their way. You don't get to carry on like complete douchebags then when the inevitable happens and you're wrong all is good.

I think 19 was alright, I guess I'm reacting to this opinion that it's a hardcore rogering. I think there was some posturing and it ended up about even.

Lmao. Lmao. Lmao. Lmao.

"A Carlton official told the Herald Sun on Tuesday night: “Richmond have still got pick 12 and that’s what we want”

There are 18 teams, so 18 picks in the first round.

You have pick 19.

You wanted a first round pick, and in the end you bent over and accepted less than what you asked for.

What an embarrassment.

I'm hoping small forward...high half forward. You've seen more of him...what do you think?

Just keep him out of your defensive 50 ;)

Works best when he has space to use his pace and skills. Any position where he can deliver into the 50 and snag a few goals is where he operates best.

Geelong, Collingwood maybe. Port, no. North will maintain. I also forecast drops for Freo and Sydney. Adelaide I agree entirely and for the reasoning.

The way I see us is Townshend is the bully we need, Yarran improves the 22. Means our bottom 2 drop out, a more rounded side. Whether this is enough, time will tell.

You guys, I gotta say I am happy, seriously. Reckon due to your history you have never fully embraced to rebuild theory. Judd was the last attempt at the "messiah" buy it in fix. Bloody champion, but gave up a lot, and it probably hurt, even though HE was great.

We had to rebuild through compromised drafts, and I think if people were fair and not being dicks, they would agree we have done OK. So you lot have a great range of picks to start with in uncompromised drafts, so it will happen faster than you realise (or we want, lol)

You have offloaded players that are not foundation, a bit flighty, like Yarran, Menzl etc. I am sure the build will be around players that are hard, gritty, no holds barred types. Then when the bricks are in place, the silk is reintroduced.

Good luck, see you early doors

Personally I think 19 was a fair trade.

Got to laugh at all those Carlton supporters demanding we pony up pick 12 over the last week or so.

Always thought SOS would flip flap after demanding a pick higher than 19. All talk.

Although they essentially got picks 8 and 11 for Henderson, Bell and Yarran. Not the worst return to try to rebuild such a terrible list.
