Absolutely no disrespect meant to Paul Yovich. He did a thorough job with what he had and ensured Edwards got an excellent defence. As the trial unfolded it became clear to me that there wasn’t a heck of a lot he could do to actually dispute the evidence for Ciara and Jane, and the evidence regarding Sarah was limited even without his input. I always felt the most important part of his role was disputing the admissibility of evidence prior to the trial, in which he was successful (although I don’t think there was much chance of it being admissible you still need someone to make the arguments). And I think the other important part of his role will be sentencing.
I’m also mindful of the fact that it can’t have been easy to defend one of the most hated people in WA. His role was important.
I find this surprising. Majority of people are thinking it and would like to ask him the same thing as they think he is guilty as sin on Spiers, however as the verdict has came back not guilty, I'm surprised that someone like the Premier would actually go this far and make a statement like this.
Here it is on Facebook liveIt will also be up on 9News timeline soon if anyone misses it. I'll keep an eye out for it and link in.

Public will be completely divided on this.Indications they might be prepared to offer him a chance at parole some time even if he's 85yo, rather than a no hope 'Never to be Released' if he tells them where Sarah is.
I suspect the Glennon and Rimmer families would be agreeable.
I would go pretty close to 50/50.I think the public would support the Glennon and Rimmer families.
Public will be completely divided on this.
What is more important, see him rot or let him out for the final piece of the puzzle?
I would go pretty close to 50/50.
Many people want to know where Sarah is AND confirmation that he actually did it.
Mentalities will be different in 10-20 years.
I'm not interested in putting the community at risk, for a body and closure.
Exactly the point. People will celebrate this verdict now but sooner or later the knowledge of what happened to SS will become more important to some than the incarceration of an old man,I'm not interested in putting the community at risk, for a body and closure.
I sat in a row of all legals that used their phones at some stage and then when a girl from the public in front of me used hers she got told off.
The WA Premier's short press conference can be replayed at the WAtoday CSK live blog (2:05pm WST)Premier Mark McGowen has just asked for Edwards to disclose where Sarah is for her family sake during his press conference as well.
Give it a decade or so once the hysteria dies down. People will still want answers.Flip it another way...........would a minister issues release on ministerial approval? I bet if a government worked the phones to see how the electorate felt about a release, I bet it would have zero support.

Correct. It was heartbreaking to see the Spiers leave court today with nothing. They need support and if that means a small sacrifice I personally would give it to them in the hope he would give their daughter's body back.
Even worse, I'm pretty darned sure BRE confessed to the murders.
Give up where SS is, his odds of surviving 30+ years in prison at the age of 51 are very slim anyway.Public will be completely divided on this.
What is more important, see him rot or let him out for the final piece of the puzzle?
Even if he got out someone would finish him. His best life for him is now in prison. I doubt he would accept release. He's probably never getting out anyway, he's over 50yo. Even on the chance of parole, he has to live that long in the big boys pen then the parole board has to approve it. And probably the AG.
BRE might forever never provide info on the whereabouts of Sarah Spiers body, or info on her abduction murder, if he and someone else were involved, and he is not wanting to ever implicate that person, or risk providing evidence that might lead to someone happening to someone he cares about, or who might be at risk of being harmed from anyone who has threatened him in some way if he ever does dob.
That’s not the point tho.Give up where SS is, his odds of surviving 30+ years in prison at the age of 51 are very slim anyway.
Yes it is, that other opposing 50 of the 50/50 need to see reason...That’s not the point tho.
He never gonna give her up. It’s of no use to him. He will be protected for the rest of his life in custody anyway.BRE might forever never provide info on the whereabouts of Sarah Spiers body, or info on her abduction murder, if he and someone else were involved, and he is not wanting to ever implicate that person, or risk providing evidence that might lead to someone happening to someone he cares about, or who might be at risk of being harmed from anyone who has threatened him in some way if he ever does dob.
