AFL Statement
The AFL this week made inquiries into an incident involving North Melbourne Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson during Saturday afternoon’s match in Hobart.

The AFL was made aware of the alleged comments by a match day official post-game who heard the comments, with the AFLIU following up the report.

Clarkson has admitted to loudly swearing and using inappropriate language while standing near the umpires and officials’ bench in response to an umpiring decision during the third quarter.

After talking to match officials, the AFL was not able to be comfortably satisfied that Clarkson’s swearing was directed towards a specific person or persons and in particular an AFL match official or officials and as such no finding of a breach of AFL Rules has been made.

My favorite part of this is Clarko's sincerely remorseful and reflective comments in accepting the suspended sentence for the last time he completely lost his shit in public and directed a tirade of nasty abuse towards an industry colleague in his workplace:

Clarkson accepted the league’s sanction in a snap press conference on Friday, away from North Melbourne headquarters after the penalty was announced.

“I’m probably going to have to reinvent myself a little bit as a coach,” he said.

“That tribalism and passion, which strangely enough is what our game’s built on, that’s been a key part of my coaching for a long, long period of time. Usually, I get embroiled in these situations when there’s a significant amount of emotion, or I’m trying to protect either a club or a player or myself or my family.

“I’ve been involved in these sorts of things before, we know that, there’s a history sheet of that, and each time it’s happened I’ve pulled myself just below the line again.”

See! He's growing as a person and always learning from his mistakes. Shame on all the haters

I challenge all of the outraged North fans today to go into their workplace this morning and bellow F'ing C either at a colleague or even "into the ether" and report back to us on what happened
I’m in management and can tell you that myself and most others in management use that type of language almost on a daily basis 🤣

Does it?

I think history has always shown that 'warriors' that can't adjust and/or control their behaviours just get left behind.
I think my use of the term ‘warrior’ is being misinterpreted - I mean someone who is prepared to call a spade a spade - someone who is forthwright and honest with their players - someone who calls BS for what it is.

Lol at this projection.

If everyone else you meet is always the ******** then you’re the problem.
The ‘projection’ was only about being a bit ‘0-100’ - I understand the intolerance of fools.

And of course - it’s easy to find yourself surrounded - there’s a lot of campaigners out there/in here….

Like they think he has to suffer just because all of the other coaches aren't anywhere near as passionate and tribal as him!

Seriously, if he thinks the umpires are costing him games, he’s nuts. Fancy worrying about umpire decisions, let alone abusing them, when you are supposed to be there developing young men, and a footy team. Unhinged. the bloke is an a disgrace.

Often yes. If someone’s stuffs up I’ll call them a dumb campaigner and likewise if I stuff up I’ll get grilled by higher up and I have a National manager that can peel paint off the walls and drops a lot of F&C bombs
That won't fly in most industries and workplaces, and the rules about conduct towards umpires are well known. Clarko is no victim here.

Is there evidence it was directed at an individual?

As opposed to blurted out in frustration?
Using the 1st word in isolation is one thing. But when you add the 2nd it becomes more directed at an individual you’re focusing on.

In any case, he is basically the face repesenting the NMFC. He should be aware of his surroundings and not even blurted it out for all to hear.

Now it’s just another issue a club on its knees if forced to deal with.

Players swear all the time as well. We often see them mouthing it, and sometimes hear it through microphones. Do we ping every single player doing this?

You know... for the sake of the kids ?

If this was one of the Scott brothers would anyone give a shit?

Scott brothers are too smart to yell it at in front of people.

If a player yells what Clarko yelled out at an umpire, he is penalised. Happened to Clark at Freo a few weeks ago.

It’s actually not difficult to understand.
