I have no doubt Mitchell is a great coach and I hope he’s coaching the Hawks one day, but surely it’s a big risk for the Pies to throw him in as head coach after 1 season of coaching his own VFL side. There must be plenty of more experienced candidates out there.

What I found really funny was that on AFL360 (yes I watch it ) this week Robbo made two comments on this:

1. Clarkson sat right next to me and said he was seeing out his contract (Robbo genuinely believes Clarkson is a man of his words)
2. And that Caro has Clarkson going to every job available (and some that are not) so how can you believe her

I'd ask Clarkson straight up when do you think Hawthorn can win a premiership with the current list (plus changes). If we are in the 3-4 window in his eyes I'd extend his contract (beyond 2022) between 2-3 years.

I find it hard to believe that he would leave from a team that he should see as developing well just to go to other teams that look to be getting worse and look to be absolutely rabble. That doesn’t really leave a lot to be poached and if Bolton was on that list it would be a good thing. I don’t rate what he tried to implement at Carlton and I don’t rate the current structure at stoppages and player allocation to rolls. But I’m just a dead head couch potato with no AFL experience so who cares

Agreed and it may help us bring in different game styles and skills to the club which in the end will help our one develop. We have to many that have been under clarko to long and we need fresh ideas.

I think we need another kicking/goal kicking coach also haven’t had one since David Rath left.

I think a decision has been made for the future, my gut feeling is Clarko will not coach another club. 17 years is a long time, it won’t be easy an decision for him to commit to another club.
