Take one for the team Wines and package with Sinn to the Hawks for 3. 3 and F1 for Clarry.

Seriously though, massive red flags if Melb are pushing him out the door. The argument of doing it to get Reid doesn’t make sense when you’re in your premiership window and as good as he is. If he’s traded there must be some serious underlying issues.

Is worth way more than "just" pick 1
No he’s not. He’s 27 next season so you’re likely to get 4-5 good seasons out of him max and that’s not even taking into consideration the lengthy high priced contract or potential off field issues.

He’s probably worth one singular top 5ish pick or two picks from 8-12.

I hope there is more to this than a bunch of media hyping each other up. The rumours about off field issues plus the ongoing assessments about his “worth” are already getting out of hand and at the end of the day there is a human being who sits in middle of all this speculation.

If it turns out to be a big nothing burger then a bunch of media people will need to think about their motives and behaviour.

There would only be a few clubs that would have both the currency and cap space to come up with a deal worth looking at.

Pick 1 has been bandied around but I cant see that getting done.

Trade a known star for a player that you hope will be a star.

Pick 1 isn't a guaranteed success.

Rayner is a pick 1 but hasn't played like it.
JFH is a pick 1, how did that work out for Nth.

A starting point would be 2 very early picks, then possibly up from there.

There are 800 AFL players and Oliver is near the very top of that. He is a proven commodity.
I wouldn't be giving him away for 1, or maybe even two unknown kids from the draft.

Maybe the Trade period is just slow.

I dont think he is going anywhere.

The other thing is that ultimately he (Oliver) can simply say no if he doesn't want to leave.
Reckon it's 80/20 he stays

Pick 8, F1 and Shiel (or what we get for him) should get the trade done.

Not sure I love the idea of trading out multiple firsts given we’re nowhere near contending and we’ve stated time and again we want to build through the draft.

Plus I doubt Oliver would be keen to head to Essendon.

I don’t see it, personally.

Could this be a ploy to get enough picks to bundle up for pick 1?

If they could involve another club via Oliver to move up to pick 4 (Gold Coast) They could then offer 4 and 5 for 1.

Definitely yes, Melbourne should dump Oliver and all of our other picks to get pick 1.

Hopefully pick 1 then turns out to be a player like Oliver, if only Melbourne had a player like Oliver.

🤣

All related to why he was out mid year, he is damaged goods and won’t get the same price he otherwise would have got.

If you are putting someone up for trade with 7 years left you aren’t going to get top dollar for him

They are in window
Either they trade to get a good key forward in or they aim to get Reid pick 1

Outcomes other than the above seem pointless for Melb

I do not want to do this trade, however:

Aaron Naughton and a F1 for Oliver.
