Carlton for Harry McKay and 16

Who says no?

Carlton get out of a bad contract, Melbourne get a key forward + a first rounder.

….and if you believe what you hear, get out of a contract they already regret.

Pert was a cancer at Collingwood and it was no surprise we improved almost instantly once he was sacked (asked to move on)

Goodwin is fast becoming the most hated coach in the comp does nothing but lie and refuses to take any responsibility for anything he does.

They are a match made in heaven Pert and Goodwin.
Yeah really don't like the way he goes about it, and lets not forget the rumours about him and some goings on as well

Carlton have Cripps and Walsh. They don't really need another inside mid.

Only went with Carlton as they have been mentioned before and have viable currency.

Cripps is also a couple of years older and somewhat banged up - he may not play too far beyond 30 in his current role.

Plus it’s the kinda thing Carlton would do.

Cripps Cerra Oliver Walsh Docherty

Wouldn't say no but we'd have to trade out Kennedy and Hewett for it to make any sense at all.

Also don't believe it would improve us a whole heap unless we can get a good small/mid sized fwd. Already lacking options up fwd and trading Mckay out certainly doesn't help with that.

Is McKay becoming the leagues most expensive decoy forward though? If that’s the role that needs fill find a reliable kick and pay them considerably less for longer.

Another season like 2023 and McKay is a White Elephant/Salary Dump candidate.

You could shift Cripps there as your midsize forward. He’s decent there and would prolong his career

Nah I reckon he'd still walk into nearly every teams B22 as their main KPF. This year he had the yips big time and struggled with injuries but his marking and up the ground work was fantastic overall. We've just needed to figure out the balance a bit.

The main thing is though we showed we are capable of playing with just Charlie and played relatively well while doing so. Imo we're a better team with Mckay but if it was a straight swap for Oliver it becomes less clear.

Oliver and Walsh would rack up truckloads of ball, but what sort of forward line are they then kicking to?

Durdin Silvagni Fogarty
Martin Curnow Motlop

Doesn't really instil much fear...

Would genuinely rather Pickett or Fritsch than Oliver from the Dees. And he is twice the player of them both.

We don’t need contested ball winners, we need avenues to goal. That trade makes 0 sense.

Fair enough - you guys know your team better than I do.

Surely it's North Melbourne.

Have plenty of picks and cap space available and a need to be better quickly.

Melbourne get pick 1 (Reid )
Lose Oliver and pick 13

North Melbourne get Oliver
Lose pick 2 and 19

West Coast get picks 2 (Curtin), 13, 19
Lose pick 1
Are you serious?
You rate Curtin as pic 2??
Quite possibly the worst trade scenario I've seen for WC.

Why are there so many Carlton supporters doing mock teams in this thread? Your salary cap is one of the tightest going around, and the guy is on a million for the next 6 years. It might work if you traded Harry McKay, but you need Harry more than Clarry.

But surely Essendon, Geelong, Bulldogs, Adelaide and Sydney will be in the frame here. Oliver would give some of those teams a massive face-lift, and they might actually have the salary cap room.

Only thing is, can they fit McKay on 780k, Gresham AND Clarry in? Even with sending out Shiel?

We’d fit Oliver in and have heaps of room to spare. Essendon’s cap situation is ridiculous, there is endless space to spare.

You’d much rather trade for Oliver even if it’s risky than let Dodoro waste one more first round pick. They’d be foolish not to trade their first.

He’s gonna cost a lot more than that though. We don’t exactly have much trade capital.

So will the Crows if they can acquire Pick 4.

Why the hell would Clarry leave for North Melbourne?

Oliver will want to go to a contender not NM.

He’s good mates with Simpkin so that’s potentially a factor.

Morris’ said they want draft picks for Reid. With North gonna have picks 2, 3, 14 and 19 feels like the only way they can offer a better deal than north is to trade with them for some of their picks, in particular the 2nd and/or 3rd pick

So based on this thread so far, by the time trade period actually starts, Melbourne will be lucky to give him away for a 3rd round pick as his list spot is untenable because someone definitely allegedly saw him ripping lines off Nadia Bartels stomach right after kicking every one of his teammates puppies or something.
