Not nothing, just don't know how to value the albatross contract. 1.4m per year is potentially club ruining. Cap is really hard for fans who don't manage player payments to value as well. The best context we have is that Bowes + pick 7 is worth 1.6 over 2? How do you value 8.6ish over 6?

We don’t need cap space. Haven’t spent the Jackson cash yet let alone the Brayshaw, Harmes, Hibberd and Ben Brown cash. Likely Tomlinson also. Also will have more freeing up with TMac and Melksham retire next year. Gawn and Viney prob on less cash also since extending.

To be honest we will probably be at risk of going under the cap floor by losing Oliver.

Very different context to GC who had salary pressure issues so can’t really compare apples and oranges.

The problem Melb have is they have backed themselves into a corner. Oliver is completely within his rights to say that it’s no longer tenable for him to remain at the D’s and duly pick his club of choice for a trade. Melb are hardly going to hold a guy who doesn’t want to be there with such a large contract.

Oliver then will duly nominate a club who again have the upper bargaining position.
