Why would Dees sell him at a low at bargain basement price?

We are better keeping him for 12 months to see if he rebounds off the back of his injuries. Every chance he does.

We don’t need cap space and if he has another poor year clubs will still be after him based on the last 12 months or so as he has demonstrated he can be one of the best in the league.

Because if he shits the bed again you'll have to pay someone to take him ala Bowes

That - or hes a locker room cancer who will destroy any remaining culture the Dees have or stop any culture change they might need.

Not saying anything will happen with him, but thats why the Dees might move him on. Dogs moved Stringer on for a packet of chips because of off field stuff

Because no one has the full full story outside Melbourne but if he goes, they've decided the risk/reward of pushing him out is better than the risk/reward of him figuring it all out.

Maybe this is the start of the club committing to a proper rebuild before Tassie get in which I think most of your posters think is the right move

You will need to accept your club is pushing him out. They want him Maxxy Gaaaawn.

Your proposal of SDK, our FR1 and we take the full contract is pure delusion and you're likely to be very disappointed.

Sorry but there isn't a scenario where I would pay Oliver 1.3mil for 6 years.
He's a 3 x AA by like 25 and premiership star, if he didnt blow up, half a chance it's 4. I think that's silly and ridiculous tbh.

Grabs ball, bombs ball.
Even at his best, he isnt worth 1.3 for 6 years.
Add in the off-field stuff and this contract was one of Melbourne's worst in history.

No matter what happens from here, Melbourne loses.

They get a nothing pick, and Oliver goes elsewhere and stars.
They get a half decent pick (nothing special) and pay a large chunk of his wage.
They hold him and watch the scrutiny come again next year.
Gonna have to strongly disagree with that valuation

Why shop him around then?

If they were committing to a rebuild why would they fight so hard to keep Trac when he would fetch a HUGE haul?

Fair question. I was adamant they should trade him but maybe the only clubs Trac would consider (Pies / Carlton) had no ability to even give a huge haul or even afford him cap wise (it's like 1.6m a year accoridng to Barret).

If the Dees are willing to see him go then I think we’re already 12 months down the line in your scenario. It all started 12 months ago.

And that is the list defining risk.

Keep him next year and if he spuds it up again, you're paying a large chunk of his salary and either accepting nothing in the way of pick OR at worst actually having to give up picks to another team to get him off your books at the end of 2025. It isn't as though you signed him up and then his form has just dropped like Coniglio. He is cultural death, off-field issues, behavioural issues and is now playing VFL grade footy.

$10m over 6 years.
