Horribe, tragic, gut-wretching news ...

Oh man I feel .. I am just can't describe just how terrible and tragic this news is ...

My heart goes out to his friends and family ...

RIP Clinton, you were one of a kind, and you were a true gentleman, and I know no one who would ever say a bad thing about you ...

Not only were you a great commentator, but from all reports, a great human being .

What a horrible start to 2008 ...

RIP Clinton Grybas ...

totally and utterly shocked
a man who just loved his footy liked the rest of us, a hard worker and deserved his position in the footy world
a totally likeable bloke who was awesome at what he did
as a foxtel subscriber and a 3aw listener, i am just in disbelief by this
condolences to the Grybas family
RIP Clinton

Very, very sad. Terrific demeanour, great voice, superb ability to pick something out. I watched that Richmond/Cats thrashing from last year again just the other day and one thing I did note is how on the ball the commentary team were.

This guy was easily the best commentator going. I loved WLF too, I was at a real loss when that show was canned. Clinton got the best out of everyone on it.

Condolences to his family.

For those in Melbourne, can you post what the 6pm news was reporting

When he wasn't there at work this morning, 3AW called neighbours, who couldn't get into his apartment. They then went to centre management who went in and found Clinton deceased, laying on the floor next to his bed. the apartment was extremely neat. No sign of foul play. No reference to ladders.

Whether it was a heart-attack, or similar system-breakdown, or drugs/suicide they didnt' say. Usually, though, if it is a stroke/heart attack, and it's obvious, then they state such. Too early, perhaps.

very, very sad.

RIP Cliton.

Cause of death not obvious, autopsy required to determine how he died.

A work colleague of similar age dropped dead suddenly last year, it was a brain aneurysm apparently. Did a bit of research and was shocked at the number of people dropping dead in their 30s.

I was reading Dennis Cometti's 1997 autobiography Back to the Place, Back to the Time. In it, Cometti mentioned many of the commentators he worked with during his broadcasting career up to that point. When Cometti picked his best young commentators who he had worked with, and who he thought had a big future ahead of them, he mentioned Clinton Grybas (at that time, just starting out on his bradcasting career), as the commentator to watch out for in the future. It gives you an idea just how highly Dennis Cometti rated Grybas, who was then unknown over here in Victoria.

This is what Cometti said:

"..and the future, at least in Perth, looks rosy as well. There's a new generation of sports broadcasters on the way led by people like Glen Mitchell, Basil Zemplas and Clinton Grybas. If, in their next twenty-odd years or so, they can match my list they'll certainly be able to say they've been lucky and life's been good."
