Overrated coach TBH. The players need to stand up next year, too, if we want to make progress.
I guess we will find out. He talks well and can most probably motivate players. He must have learned enormous amount during his Tigers stay. Hopefully, he has the drive. He looks excited and re-charged. I believe surrounding him with great assistant coaches helped him when he was almost fired after 2016 season. It does look like most of our assistant coaches stay at least for a while. Not sure I am excited about it.

Triple premiership coaches aren't overrated
Dennis Pagan had the football world at his feet with his North squad between 1993-2002 and managed 2
He's considered an elite coach
Sheedy Matthews Hafey Barassi 4 each are considered coaching Gods
John Longmire-no-one doubts his coaching ability.
One premiership -and that was the year after Roos left in 2012
I agree you might win one off the back of a stellar squad and a bit of luck
Winning 3 puts you in rare company and it's difficult to label him as overrated-especially in this era of competition equalisation

Helps to have a Dustin Martin / Michael Voss / Wayne Carey type too.

The 80% line is genius to get players immediately onside. You'd imagine that the players sitting there would be getting excited about what the future holds and would be itching to get into pre-season. At the tigers hardwick was able to get his players to believe in themselves and what they could achieve, hopefully this is the first step at the suns

I feel like some players cough Gary cough (among others) have taken advantage of our coaches vulnerability and inexperience and would question where they play on the field, etc. A player is going to look really silly if they question Dimma who is a triple premiership coach. It's going to be really weird have an experienced, proven coach out there. Something we have always lacked.

Pretty damn excited thats its officially confirmed.

Bob East coming in and signing his #1 target who happened to coach the best side in the last decade shows massive ambition. You may know i was never a Dew fan so it may not be such a surprise i'm all in on Dimma. I feel like we have wasted the last two years with no game plan and factually gone backwards this year with no one on the injury list all year.

I feel Bob & Mark will give Dimma the best chance to succeed and i wouldn't be surprised if we land our 3 academy players and some more pieces, keen for this next chapter.

He looks excited to be here and to play with his new toys

Not sure if this would be a factor as well but Kurt Tippett was obviously Bud's partner in crime for several years at Sydney and now Tippo is on our board. Jesinta has a soft spot for our club as well so that probably helps too.

Looks like Buddy is keen for a coaching gig
Would be a great addition to our club. The bloke is genuinely still passionate about footy and has recently talked about how much he's enjoyed mentoring young forwards like Logan McDonald. Imagine being Jed Walter right now and knowing in your first year that you'll be coached by the most successful modern coach in the game and possibly even mentored by the best modern forward in the game. That's a hell of a way to start your career!

Also don’t forget the impact buddy could have on Kingy as well

This is an area where the Melbourne clubs have an advantage.

Much easier to tempt an assistant coach to move (on assistant coach wages) across town to a new job.

Very different getting them to move states. Especially given many are at the stage of life with young families so moving isn't a simple thing.

Requires the Suns to show commitment to those they do get to move.
