That discussion was only about CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) NGA players, not those in the multicultural category. The multicultural category caters for those with an African or Asian background. From Amended-AFL-Rules-effective-2-March-2022.pdf:

The CALD category requires both parents to have been born overseas, and in a country where English isn't the main language spoken. So it's not for just anyone; someone with English or New Zealand born parents wouldn't qualify, for example.

What a stupid rule and I wasn’t aware that the rule had been changed as when these program’s first came in I knew a few lads younger than me who definitely did not fit the modern rule
