Sorting out salary cap issues is a great move. We will be a FA destination once we have a couple of years near the top of the ladder. Need to have space to go after the big guns, or find ourselves on the Melbourne side of a Grundy trade.

Exactly right, the cap is fine. This McStay deal has been in the works since before this season even started and is unrelated to Grundy. We are simply reallocating our cap to other positional areas of need with this Grundy trade and brining in more future flexibility for targets in the next couple of years.

Wright, Mcrae and Leppitsch (who for those unaware has massive pull internally) have come from coaching/club environments of great success where their ruck departments would largely be considered average/below par. While they view the ruck position as important, they clearly think the resources can be allocated elsewhere to maximise the list talent.

McStay is a FA, you know. Just not a sexy name.

I think every club would have types in the seconds they hope to become as good as the Swans youth, the difference is that Sydney seems to be elite and bringing them on. Saying that we've had some serious development back and forward with young players just not so much mids lately.
Couldn't agree more, it is pretty amazing as Rowbottom, Florent and even Stephens are all contributors to the 22 even though they are all relatively small and skinny.

Mate this is Da Vinci Code level s*t, it's a ****** knightmare!

It's never the most obvious answer

You can even say it was from a poster here that got canceled by the Chief

De Goey has signed

Grundy is gone

Henry is asking for too much money and we're not fussed if he goes because of that fact

Mitchell a Pie as well

1. Awesome news! I wonder why it hasn't been announced?
2. I'm sad to hear it. The writings been on the wall. If Grundy goes I hope we get a decent deal.
3. Sounds like Geelong thinks so too. Whose Henry's manager? May have mis-valued him.
4. Best news yet! I reckon Mitchell can make a big difference for us.

Optimistically hoping that the cats 'cooling interest' in Henry is legit...

If we execute the 4 rumored inclusions (McStay, Hill, Frampton, Mitchell), my 22 for round 1 would look like the below.

While the jury is out on a couple of those inclusions, it looks a significantly better side to the team we rolled out in the finals that was 1 goal off the top two sides. Very promising signs of proven depth in our list too at all positions.

B: B.Maynard, B.Frampton, J.Howe
HB: I.Quaynor, D.Moore, J.Crisp
C: S.Sidebottom, J.DeGoey, J.Daicos
HF: B.Hill, B.Mihochek, O.Henry
F: J.Elliott, D.McStay, J.Ginnivan
R: D.Cameron, T.Adams, N.Daicos
I: S.Pendlebury, P.Lipinski, T.Mitchell, N.Kreuger

DEPTH:
N.Murphy, J.Noble, M.Cox, W.Hoskin-Elliott
B.Mccreery, T.Bianco, A.Johnson, F.Macrae

He just wants to go to Geelong to be with his brother. Perhaps he will then regain the power of speech which he seemed to lose at Collingwood. Unfortunately he seems a very shy guy and probably needs his brother's close presence to feel confident enough to make friends and engage others in conversation. He just wants to go and nothing we can say is likely to change his mind. So lets send him to the PSD and hope he ends up in WA or somewhere far away from Geelong.
FM, seriously Deka research ya fn potential draftees properly...Should of used that 1st pick so much more wisely..Another wasted 1st pick if Henry goes.

Frampton doesn't get a game in front of Murphy at this point.

The rumour tonight down here on the Surf Coast is Geelong is making a play for Bowes and Pick7. They will then try to split pick 7. With the retirements of Dahlhaus ($525k), Higgins and some others they are waiting on. It is reported they are well under their cap.
The problem is no one really wants Bowes. They just want Pick 7. Pretty shit stuff by GC.

We will give them our first and Ollie for pick 7 and their second.
They can use ours or their first on Bruhn.
Pass that on please.

I know that. But these conditions have all existed for 100 years, during which time Geelong were far from dominant. I think we're looking for reasons other than the most obvious one - they're currently a really well run club with a great culture.
Not disputing that at all.
They only have to be half well run!! They fact they are very well run is not up for debate.

But going back 100 years is pointless. 10 years is enough.
World has changed. Big cities are no longer an attraction. In fact I’d say they are the opposite to current generation.

They have the biggest advantage over any other team. The fact they are exploring it so well is kudos to them!
But doesn’t change the issue at heart.

May as well get him to also pass on that we want the recipe for how to make a ducker loved by the media.

No way Geeking give up pick 7, that would be an absolute steal if we managed to pull that off.

Bugger that. Just get Bowes and pick 7 ourselves.
