As hilarious as it would be to shaft the Dees and leave them scrambling for a back-up ruckmen, I think it might be too far gone. Happy to be wrong, but doubt it. If it is too far gone then Mitchell is a perfect consolation prize.

Geelong can GAGF, as far as I'm concerned
As hilarious as it would be to shaft the Dees. I'd rather have Mitchell on the list in 2023 over Grundy.

Anyone else hearing Hawks offering full pay on contracts for better picks (swapping in) re T.Mitchell and O’Meara?

Yusss Wrighty.
Strong arm away!

It's not unreasonable and Demons game plan is reliant on 2 rucks and they have no one other than Gawn who can ruck.

If Gawn gets injured who rucks?
Majak Daw?

Dees blink first.
Daw retired.
Absolutely, but ultimately I think we’re best off if the Grundy deal goes ahead (and subsequently whatever we want to do with Mitchell, Fiorini) and the Henry deal falls over anyway.
Yeah that’s where I land as well on those deals. If the Dees don’t blink take 27, but hold the line on Henry!

Grundy’s silence can’t be ignored either. If he went and pulled a Treloar Wright wouldn’t be able to drive a hard bargain and that would be done already potentially compromising other moves…

There was a lot more than 45. I am hoping we keep one of those 50 picks unless we accept 25 for Henry. We should take a 3rd round pick to the draft if it still our 3rd pick and decide on the night.
A bunch were rookie upgrades. Our third will upgrade Nobes to the senior list (long overdue).

It’s all fun and games for Grundy, ultimately he gets done for 27. I don’t see a scenario where he’s on the list next year

Henry on the other hand, I don’t see a scenario he gets to Geelong, looking forward to seeing him sweat in the draft. Should be some good times Wednesday evening

If we end up keeping Grundy, send Ollie to draft and can still snag Fiorini whilst we wait till Frampton gets delisted or not it’s probably not the worst result trade wise and sends a good message for the future.

I think Ollie still gets to pick 25 in an open draft but good to make them sweat.

Nah that wouldn’t be permitted because it would leave Port with no 2023 1st or 2nd. They were only able to move their 2023 1st because they walked away with our 2023 2nd in the same deal from GWS. They can still move our 2023 2nd to Geelong for Ratugalea, but they’d need to find another 2023 2nd in the same deal.
Possible option:
Cats receive pick 33 for Ratagalea from Port trade (rumoured pick 33)
Cats ontrade 33 to Pies + pick 25
Pies send either 41/50 to Port & 51 to Cats

Melbourne have no other rucks on their list.
They need Grundy.

I'd hold our nerve on 13 and 27 for Grundy and 16.

I'm loving this evenings developments. This is when the trade talks need to get serious and it seems the dees and cats believe that our trade hand is forced and we will have to buckle and accept unders when both teams have the capital to make it happen.

We have been open about our asking price which is fair and we should stand our ground when the other side is being unreasonable.

My prediction is that the Grundy trade will get done with the pick upgrade to 13. We will then offer the improved pick swap to Cats with pick 25 but reckon they will still refuse.

What about this..
We trade Grundy to Melbourne for future 2nd and hey pay all his contract.
We trump Geelong by offering future 2nd and take Bowes and pick 7
We use 7 on Clark.

Hope they trade him and then we knock back 25 and 33 for Henry. Hahaha!

I can't see us accepting it unless it means we can improve our draft hand with an earlier pick.

I can't see any teams we can do that with.

Pick 33 they can trade to a club for a future 2nd which unlocks the future 1st to be traded.

Might be worth asking the question why we're the only team even vaguely interested in Mitchell though.

He would be a decent short term option for us, but not something we should be worried about missing out on. Overall Grundy offers more in my view. Mitchell has clearances but not a lot more, and as he doesn't drive out of packs, needs receivers for his dinky handballs. I'd even say I prefer Adams.

Confident Grundy will be traded, but not too worried if he isn't.
I think it’s because, despite our great year, we lack midfielders big time.
