Bianco, our best VFL player on the weekend, should be moved on? Really? I'd prefer we moved on Murley before we thought about moving on Bianco. Bianco was captain of a team with Rowell and Anderson in it, he's got an accurate kick and with Sidey nearing retirement (like it or not, it's going to happen), why would we ditch Bianco?

The players we cut from the VFL list should be the worst performers Kelly.

Ruscoe is a solid defender. He's depth at the moment, but not because he can't play.
Bianco might become good enough, but his timing looks off. He's basically competing with Lippa, Daicos, wHE and Sidey, with Allan coming through and Hill likely to push up to the wings. He needs to go past a couple of the seniors and keoo the kids behind him Sidey is only 32, still one of the best runners around and still loving playing footy. I don't think he'll be preparing his retirement speech anytime soon. Bianco is already in his fourth year and the door to being a regular doesn't look like opening any time soon. How many years of Collingwood VFL will he get? And he doesn't seem suited to a small defender, small forward or inside mid role

Bianco is actually the player on our list who is most similar to Sidey.
He and Macrae have been the most consistent of our VFL players this year.

A couple rumours floating around from people I trust.

Parish still keen to come to us, although it’s a bit of a watch this space from our side. We have cooled a little.

Essendon sniffing around Finn McRae.

We are still looking to have a crack at King.

Callaghan to Pies in 2025
I'd be over the moon if we could snag Parish. As elite midfielders go, he's right up there for clearances and disposals right now and would alleviate any pressure on Pendles, Mitchell etc. next season, potentially extending their careers. Interesting that Essendon is sniffing around McRae; presumably a contingency plan for the possibility of Parish leaving?

Callaghan was very impressive in our game against GWS. Lacked a bit of polish with his finishing, but found the ball and was in their top 5 in a tough game for GWS.

King is neither here nor there for me at the moment. If he agreed to come for no more than $800k (i.e. our top earners) it could work; anything else and the risk profile doesn't work in my opinion.

Geelong is the other one linked to Parish but apparently their main focus is Worpel.

He wouldn’t be the first and won’t be the last to make a promising debut and then never really make it.

He’s in potential delist territory this year unless we have some others decide to move on to other clubs.
Injuries have killed his progress- much like Murphy before last year, when he finally proved himself.
Let’s see Begg string a consecutive run of 6-8 games in the VFL and I have no doubt he’ll prove his worth.

De Goey is 27. Prefer to have one more younger one. If we're lucky that could be Allan or even McInnes, but not something to rely on I don't think (some might include Josh, which could be fair enough).
Draper, HH, McCrae, JC to add to the above. And I think Draper could be the standout - he was really making great strides before getting concussed.

The issue with Bianco being a Sidebottom replacement is he’s behind players like WHE and Lipinski who already have another role in the AFL side. More chance we’ll shuffle around those name than include Bianco.

I do not disagree with this

Said they may move for greater opportunities

Callaghan has close family ties to Luke Beveridge. Would say saints and dogs would be his preferred destination if he left giants

Our number 1 trade target this year should be the suns first round pick. They have 3 academy talents who might go top 20 so are keen to trade out the pick which would be swallowed up matching bids anyway
Would our first pick and next year's first be about right? I'm a bit rusty on understanding that market.

Unlike Begg, Murphy in his limited time between injuries showed AFL traits and always looked like he could be close to coming in to the 22.

Good for you for being bullish, but nothing about him screams AFL traits to me.

I'd hoped when Begg built up more, as he has, he'd show more potential. He always looks puffed out to me.

They would need picks/points for THIS YEAR, so not sure that would help them.

WHO CAN SECURE THE JACK BOWES 2.0 DEAL?

Clubs are lining up to try and prise Gold Coast’s first pick off the club in this year’s exchange period as part of a salary dump deal.

The Suns last year traded Jack Bowes to Geelong which came with pick seven as well because the Cats paid all of Bowes’s salary.

This year clubs such as St Kilda, Hawthorn and Essendon will have a crack at a similar deal which could see the Victorian clubs secure the Suns’ first pick as well as a player.

While there remains lots of water to flow under the bridge, Brayden Fiorini has been discussed by Victorian clubs as one player they may target in the same vein as Bowes.

Fiorini, 25, considered a move to Collingwood last year but stayed at Gold Coast after the Magpies zeroed in on Tom Mitchell, from Hawthorn.

The 186cm Fiorini has averaged 16 possessions a game across nine matches this season for the Suns.

I'm sure the club will be looking at improving their draft hand this year and Gold Coast could come to the party, considering they've got lots of a Academy players that will require points to match.

We should trade our first rounder (currently pick 18) and our second rounder (pick 25) for Gold Coast’s first rounder (pick 7).

I thought Fiorini extended on much less? Not sure why they’d need to give up a first rounder to get rid of him. Would happily take him if it knocked off a first rounder in a King trade though.
He did.
I think this is more about rival clubs thinking more than anything else.

$800'000 for his brother who clunks contested marks, but not for Ben.

Are there many key forward options this year Eric?

Even when skinny, u can tell when a young tall is good overhead or not... unfortunately for Begg, he's just not good overhead.
Begg does some brilliant stuff at this level and than lets himself down with some bad decisions.
He is something to work with I guess. Doesn't generally get many tapouts although his clearance numbers are often very good.
