Oof, hope there’s legitimacy to the TT thing, he’d be an amazing pick-up. Will end up a quality player if he gets his shit together and he’d come at a bargain price.
I have faith in the new management properly assessing his risk and long term viability.

Begg's a very hard no for me. Has only looked like a VFL standard ruck when he's gone up against the worst rucks (like Schache last week), and he simply won't make it as a KPP. Even Tom Downie from Williamstown took him and Steene to town.

Steene will get a new deal and I like his potential, but I wouldn't expect him to be near AFL standard for some time

Happy for people to write off Begg but as I say, he's making strong progress IMHO. Out of contract at the end of the season but I'd be confident he'll get an extension.

If I had to invest in one, I'd pick Riccardi given he's two years younger.

yet when you compare their respective careers, things aren't so clear cut, especially when you consider Riccardi has longer in an elite system and strong pre-draft engagement in the relevant systems, Johnson walked into Sturt and had a season and a half pre-draft relevant exposure.

That's true but Riccardi is younger.

Same. Can't believe anyone rejecting Papley or Weightman but are willing to welcome TT.
I'd have both.
Papley's an annoying prick, a bit like Ginni, but then he'd be our annoying prick.
Weightman has got a name for staging for frees, a bit like Ginni.
In both cases, they have talent, and if they played for Collingwood, they'd be irritating other clubs' supporters.
I'd be happy with that.

Same. Mind you I can't see either of them happening, it's just a pipe dream. And besides what we really need is a younger version of Titch and another kpd.

Steene, yes. He's a great player and we're starting to see that in the VFL. Hine admitted he would have been ready had we really needed him but they wanted to wait.

Begg, no. Part of his problem is that he's too skinny. He's more of a KPD than a ruck. Modern rucks seem to be units and Begg in comparison is more twiggy and nimble.
seriously? Begg's problem is that he has tree trunk legs, and lacks the stamina / athleticism that you need if youre a 197cm ruck / KPP. Agree that KPD is his best bet, but he has a turning circle akin to Billy Morrison, and is quite slow. He has serious endeavor, which has helped players make it in the past, but I think any AFL level KPF or KPB would run him ragged, so he's up against it to make it in the big leagues

When's the last time you saw Begg? He's anything but skinny, twiggy or nimble..

I agree. I was surprised to see how much bigger Begg was upon returning from pre season..but unfortunately it only seems to have affected his fitness & agility. He always looks puffed out.

I’m probably in the minority here but I’m not opposed to the buy low sell high approach to Johnson if the interest is there.
🙋‍♂️ me too. I’m not pushing it, but if the club took that path I’d cop it. Ditto Ginnivan.

I'm sure when Cloke recommended him he was supposed to be an athletic beast
