They're usually pretty good. Keen to see what they hear

A tad narcissistic, but hopefully the above article from Beveridge indicates that my trade proposal on Friday planted the seed around pick 23 being the value.

We want pick 23!!!

Pick 18 & 23 for Pick 10 (from Gold Coast) makes so much sense for both parties.

It’s as simple as he’s got a 3 year contract for his last contract in the afl. Wish him all the best

Pretty much this. Compared to one year left on his contract and up to the injury gods if he got a one year extension… even then at a lower salary.

Florent, Hayward, Rowbottom, LoMac are the No goes and pipe dreams
I guess but we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes at other clubs
Imagine if one of them has mentioned in their exit meetings that they’d be open to a move to Vic if a chance came up during the trade period

I can’t help but feel that Tay’s decision to leave has something to do with his heartbreak over not playing in the grand final.I couldn’t imagine him wanting to leave if he’d just won a premiership with his teammates.

SWANS LOOK TO LOAD UP

SYDNEY'S pick No.23 shapes as a central plank in the club's bid to secure all of its trade targets, after winning a commitment from contracted Collingwood midfielder Taylor Adams on Sunday.

The Swans are set to be among the busiest clubs during this year's Trade Period and will also look to secure a deal for contracted Demons ruckman Brodie Grundy, having already secured free agent duo James Jordon and Joel Hamling.

As reported by AFL.com.au on Sunday, Adams is the next to signal his intentions to secure a move to Sydney after being offered a longer deal and having missed Collingwood's premiership victory due to a hamstring injury.

The Swans are unlikely to part with their first pick (currently No.11) in any potential deals for Adams or Grundy, meaning their second selection at No.23 is set to play a significant part in ensuring they can seal moves for all of their trade targets.

Sydney has pick No.23 courtesy of a swap deal with Hawthorn during last season's national draft, while it also currently has picks No.31, 44 and 52 among its suite of selections.

Adams, a 206-game player at both Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood, has one season to run on his contract at the Magpies but has been lured to a Swans team hoping to bolster their midfield depth. – Riley Beveridge
They're well run the Swannies. They're pulling off what we did last season and will nail their needs for not much in trade cost.

Why not? Had he won, would he not be valuing contract security & coin even higher than the chance at victory?

I honestly think given an injury free run, and Mills coming back well, that Sydney with Grundy (top tier ruck), Adams (inside grunt), Hamling (2nd key back) and Jordan (replacing Clarke etc) will be well placed for a strong premiership run next year.

They’ll be fairly desperate to get the trades done.

Rowbottom would be an amazing get though

With two mids coming in, now that I see it we could be a decent chance of securing one of their mids. They can’t play everyone.

Not playing wasn’t part of the script. He had already made his mind up if he had played in the premiership. Not playing made the decision a little harder for him to make.

You should read the match day threads when Adams gets hold of it, seriously injruy prone and turn over king, if we get pick 31 for him I would take it and run the * away <750k on our salary cap!

The match day threads are the last place you should get player evaluations from.

100%. Look like doing very well. I thought they may have gone harder for a kpd better than Hamling though, as to me that'll still be an area of weakness. The top teams all have an elite kpd. Paddy Macartin is a massive loss. Am I right in thinking he's retired?

I doubt they’d give up a best 22 player. This is all about them filling in the final pieces to the jigsaw puzzle IMO. Not losing others at the same time.

Maybe we could go for an unproven youngster Ie Roberts, Konstanty etc. But I’d honestly just prefer pick 23.

Same, Gus is a gun but we ain’t getting him. But if Wrighty pulls off a gun player trade in through the Tay trade, give the man a lifetime contract and a statue outside the AIA Centre.

A Wicks for some forward depth COULD be gettable.

If they are bringing in Adams, where does that leave Sheldrick? They are clearly saying they don't think he is the inside contested ball winner they need or they wouldn't get Adams. And what happens with Parker?

I really hope we are eyeing Sheldrick, even if we give a pick to them.

Tom McCartin is a gun.

But I do agree Hamling isn’t anywhere near top shelf. Probably why they were so desperate for Barrass.

But then again neither was Frampton…
