I feel that Mcstay playing takes some physical pressure off Mihocek and allows him to get through games easier and not be as banged up during the seaso. Don’t know if we have anyone else who can cover this.

Kreuger has to be ahead of Frampton for a KPF. Otherwise he should have been delisted. Frampton is a last resort.

I think Kreuger really has the capability to be a genuine forward target in our system. When he's not injured.
I also personally think Frampton could be a decent target if they spend this summer getting him to work on being nothing but a forward. Reckon come Round 1 he can be ready to play a good role.
Hell, even in the Grand Final he actually could have kicked 3 or 4 had he just clunked some basic marks. Which I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say he was probably just super nervous? It's not like he can't mark as a forward, we've seen him do it.

I'll be interested in whose training where in preseason. I think Frampton has potential as a forward, but needs to be locked into one role this year, so I'd only like to see him shifted to a forward if Eyre or someone else gets added as a KPD.

He does. We saw glimpses of it at the start of 2022 before he was injured. He looked like a bloody exciting addition before he did his shoulder against Adelaide iirc.
His whole career as a forward was based on potential. After 7 years in the system failing forward and 2 years looking pretty decent in defence, I think the percentage play is to get him to do what we recruited him to do and try to trust our actual tall forwards to do the job they were recruited to do.

His best game came against Brisbane a few weeks after he injured his shoulder again Adelaide. He registered 12 disposals 5 marks, 1 contested 4 scoring shots, 2.2. He looked both athletic and imposing that game which gave the board allot of hope our key forward woes were fixed. He injured his shoulder again the week after against Essendon though which took him out for most of the year.
i am not convinced Kreuger is the answer up forward with Mcstay gone we need to look for a reasonable power forward to help Checkers. Problem with kreuger is he way too injury prone has showed that time and time again cannot rely on him at all.
There must a power forward to take a grab we can find in the lower levels someone like a Riccardi as an example no super star just a workhorse who can bring the ball to ground and can take a grab.

Ash johnson has x factor but not key position.
Now in hindsight why didn't we give Jesse Hogan a go he would have been perfect strong accurate kick and would have cost us a packet of twisties. He is the type im talking about

Ash just came back from a fractured arm and isn't a key forward. More a third forward
Like, I don't think we have a tonne of other options right now. Unless Howe swings forward and Dean FINALLY stays injury free enough to play down back and let Murphy play the Howe role?

Howe’s less of a key forward than Johnson
Guys we cant rely on players like Dean (unproven plus he is a backman) Kreuger (too injury prone ) Howe getting older and on can pinch hit up forward, forget Teakle ( cant get a game at Port useless plus he is a ruckman ) id take a Charlie Dixon any day over Teakle these are NOT the answers. We need a CHF big strong and a workhorse who is resiliant surely in the WAFL or SANFL or any lower leagues find out who's the best power forward and go and get him but someone who plays that position not some hack who is a bit player. We should recruit Sofinidis as back up if Murphy or Howe goes done has history not taught us something ?

Completely writing off a player while they’re still listed, because they’ve had injuries is ludicrous. Imagine if we’d done that with Moore and Elliott when they had that horror run. If Kreuger is fit to play he should be given every opportunity to do so, he’s far better than pretty much anyone we could get from the state leagues.

Saying AJ isn’t a key forward and then suggesting Howe play key forward…
Surely you’re taking the piss.
The McStay injury is an opportunity for the tall blokes who wernt in the best 22 last year to step up. The following blokes need to step up this preseason both on the track and especially in the gym.
Krueger: He needs about 5 kg of muscle added to his frame to slow him down, stop him climbing as high and to give him some padding. He needs to come back looking like Murphy did when he finally broke into the side in 2022.
AJ: looks like he has come back looking sharp. Although he cant provide the contest that McStay can he is certainly can climb over blokes to take a pack mark. McStay out provides him with a huge opportunity.
Steene: looks so much bigger, hopefully he is super fit as well. He was providing a great contest forward in the VFL, hopefully that sort of pack marking can translate to AFL, with the extra bulk. He has that height that every second Pies fan drools over in a key forward although he is probably suited more as a ruckman. Could certainly play the McStay contested position, although he is unlikely to provide the McStay pressure or the McStay movement.
Teakle: Looks a similar type to Steene. Has shown he is capable of kicking a goal at AFL and is still young and hopefully still improving. You never know.
Billy: he has a big opportunity and I feel he is the most physically developed of all of the players on this list. Personally im not a fan of his forward work, however he still has a chance of being Mr Fixit again.
Reef: plays a bit like DeGoey did as a forward. I personally think his marking is a bit underated and with a big preseason could be a big improver even a X factor player. He cant play that McStay role but we may not need to directly replace McStay with Cox and Cameron filling the void.

Agree 100 per cent. If Kreuger was that good Geelong would not have let him go aside from injuries he is too kamikaze and this is why he gets injured definately y not the answer to our forward or back problems at best depth only

Not sure why you'd mention Dixon. The only reason he got games at end of last year was because he's a Kenny favourite. If he was a horse, he would have been shot by now.
You're writing off guys who haven't even had more than a week of pre-season training with us. The club obviously sees something in the players they have asked to trial.
Put it this way what i wouldn't give for a younger version of Charlie Dixon. He is the type we need an animal A MONSTER FORWARD. Teakle is a 204 cm Ruck option who couldn't get a game with Port Adelaide when they had no ruckman what does that tell you ? He is not our answer up forward come on man. Even at this stage a fit older Charlie Dixon is 100 times better than Teakle. at CHF
The club are looking at possibilities no option but taking the money ball approach because we don't have high draft picks to give away to get a big classy forward .Again we gave away our first rounder next year for the Sargent,"i know nothing" Schultz
From the lads training SOFINIDIS IS A MUST as key position back up for Murphy Or HOWE maybe Teakle ((beggars cant be choosers) as back up Ruck option if Cox or Cameron go down. Yes we have Frampton but he can be used as bit player .
Not sure any other options, some bloke from Bombers is training with us believe he is a tall forward option his name escapes me sorry, he could be an option instead of Teakle because we Frampton as back up ruck too.

Markov was delisted by GC and is now a premiership player. Not saying Terkel is a given or that we shouldn’t look elsewhere only that with our current system we shouldn’t solely judge players on their footy at other clubs.
