Interesting article on the 2020 draft by Landsberger yesterday and how hard it was given virtually no footy in Vic that year
He re did the draft now and had 2 of our picks in top 10. Ollie Henry (pick 17 ) and Beau McCreery (pick 44)

Given we also snared a premiership player in Ginnivan and highish hopes still for McInnes and Macrae, I think Hine and co did not too bad given half the recruiters were made redundant to save costs

I'm sure the club is working through it's options. But I wouldn't be writing guys off before they've had more than a week of pre-season.
Agreed, but I think it's up to 8 days - that's more than enough.

Framptons role in the GF is getting way overstated imo.

Saying AJ isn’t a key forward and then suggesting Howe play key forward…

Surely you’re taking the piss.

Not sure on the sudden schizophrenic flip to aggression here, but the post you're quoting is literally talking about not having many options yeah?

Hence....now get this....the throwing up of possible options within the context of having.....not many options.

I know right? Crazy stuff.

I'm well aware Howe isn't a key forward. Fun fact, Howe is also recovering from a badly broken arm! But Howe played forward once last year and did it extremely well. Arguably better than Ash has ever done it in his time in the role. Does that guarantee he'd do it better than Ash over the course of a season? Nope. Not at all. But Howe was first recruited as a forward and clearly still has some nous in performing the role. But Howe also has a far better defensive side than Ash, which gives him another advantage over him. Which is another reason I was throwing him up as an option.

So again, in the interest of discussing options, maybe it's possible Howe spends summer working on playing as a forward option should we require it?

As we're on a discussion forum that specialises in the sport of Australian Rules Football, I was just trying to discuss possible options for our forward predicament within the context of having a lack of options in the forward role with the McStay injury.

You could always try not being a complete w***er about it. You could have easily said "Gee, that's odd, why would Howe be a better option than Ash?" and I could have then proceeded to explain my position as best I could.

Instead, you chose to do what so many here do and go into aggression mode when you read something you don't like or confounds you so profusely.

dont know what Oli Henry has done to justify pick 6 in that list. v high for an undersized forward who has had a few good cameos to date. Ginni has a bigger body of work to date, and didnt even make the list

I think Ollie kicked over 40 goals this year and looks like he could become the best mid sized forward in the comp but don't take that as Gospel

Didnt realise he kicked 40. I'd still prefer Thilthorpe or Chapman, or even Perkins
I think he gets downgraded here because of the way he left. His 1st 3 seeasons are tracking the way A grade players do. A medium forward who has 47 games in 1st 3 years, all on an upward trajectory, is impressive. 10, 15, 22. Then the goals go 7, 21, 41 (0.7, 1.4,1.9) and thats tracking towards long term excellent. We took a risk with the go home factor and missed out but he is the standout of the picks we took in 2020.

I’m not convinced about Krueger. I thought he was a chance to be delisted after the season just ended.

But he wasn’t and instead got a contact extension (?).

It’s not just that he’s injury prone, it’s more that in the few senior games where he wasn’t injured, he didn’t look to be much of a forward. Aggressive yes - but forward craft? No.

Also, he played out the year in the VFL (last 6 or so games) and didn’t come close to being selected. Even when McStay went down. So I think he is, at most, depth and we have other McStay replacement options ahead of him.
Yeah in the VFL games I've watched him play I've found him unconvincing too.

He has trampolines for hands. You can't be a good key forward with trampoline hands.

Does anyone really think Murphy would be in full training today if the AFL wasn’t going to tick off his return

We don’t need to continually fall for the media click bait hyperbole
I wouldn’t put anything past the AFL these days.

Soft as butter, Lazy, 188cm and doesn't chase or tackle, thinks he's a key forward. A little light bulb will go off in his head in the future knowing he most probably missed out on a flag because he wanted mummy to tuck him in at night

Kreuger was largely injured last season. Got all the tools except the ability to land gracefully in marking contests. Could be anything. Maybe this year opens the door for him.
2022 those sub games he looked really good, throwing himself about (to his own detriment hahaha). I liked what i saw from him. Fingers crossed he stays healthy

Are you taking into account the trading of eventual pick 2 for picks 30 and 31?
