Let's remember Geelong were the oldest Premiership side in history.

One year later we were the 3rd oldest.

For right or wrong clubs generally look to mimic what has proven successful so players being aged 30 with over 200 games experience has never been of more value than right now to those clubs looking to immediately challenge next season.

That's what Sydney are doing and if they want a contracted Adams they need to satisfy any reasonable demand from us.

Hutchy would be absolutely rubbing his fat hands together that Collingwood are going to be involved in this trade period. It'll be interesting to see if Wright lives up to his mantra of just getting things done, or if we get suckered into...

Rheem comes on steady hot and strong, it just goes on and on.

Or a new favourite, I just want my Makita back!

I don’t think they publicly stated that they wanted Titch out. It was more “we don’t mind if he leaves” similar vibe to Adams.

Totally different vibes. Sam Mitchell and Tom Mitchell did not get on and Sam wanted him out. With Adams our statement its clear we want him but are being adults about it.

On a completely unrelated trade note. Did anyone see Steven May’s speech at what I am guessing was their presentation night? No wonder Melksham tried to knock him out.

So glad we don’t trade in flogs like this.

We almost did.

Our window is now.
Hoping we have some irons in the fire because losing a best 22 player for a draft pick isn't ideal.

Top up time and deal with the lack of youth problem in a couple of seasons.

Need to go real hard for the back to back then Pendles, Sidey and Howe probably finish up.

I’m really surprised that Adams is doing this.He had the chance to win a premiership with his best mates and a coach he loves for the prospect of more midfield time at Sydney under a boring coach like horse Longmire.Seriously?if he was unhappy at spending time in the forward line, you would have thought he would knuckle down and try to win his spot in the midfield back.Instead he packs up his ball and bat,and pisses off to Sydney at the first chance he gets.Just very disappointing from him.I didn’t think he would do something like this.
What makes you think he didn’t knuckle down and try to win his spot back?

At the end of the day spots are limited and some miss out regardless of how hard they work.

They're well run the Swannies. They're pulling off what we did last season and will nail their needs for not much in trade cost.

I hate the idea of giving Sydney a leg up. If they don't stump up i'd be inclined to tell Adams we tried but they didn't come to the table.

What’s preventing us from using 23 to bring someone in? Moving Adams on creates cap space so is it so unbelievable we won’t make a late play at Holmes (for example). I’d be making a play at Sheldrick personally, but I don’t think we’ll sit on our hands too much in regards to our best 25 given Adams move.

Turning this Adams situation into a player like Holmes is what I'm hoping Wright can magic.

This will be a blessing in disguise.

Realistically for the team to move forward the likes of Reef, Fin, Ginny need to force their way into the best 22. Adams at 30/31 with his injury history is ripe to be overtaken.

If we snag a pick in the mid to late 20’s and clear 650k off the books that sets us up very well.
