That would be a bad trade for us. Ginnivan if he trains hard can be as good as he wants to be; other players like Reid can only be forfty percent as good as that.
Ginnis 2026 clearance numbers are elite, but Reid is more dynamic, so I probably wouldn't push too hard for steak knives - butter knives will do.

One other element to it is the proliferation of academy and FS’. It allows clubs looking to take minimal picks to trade up superfluous picks to something meaningful.

Take us next year and making a serious play for Smith. Let’s say it’s 19 and 34 for Schultz. If we can push 38 into 2024 post the academy bids and retain our 1st then come trade week we might be able to dump both our 2024 seconds on GC for their 1st which would be chewed up by a bid on Lombard. That then gives us flexibility to trade two firsts for Smith if need be. We reduce our draft obligations from a list perspective and bring in two high quality best 23 fits for the price of Adams and two picks 20+.
100% Agree.
It's a completely different game these days IMO.
The 'who needs points' is pivotal in maneuvering the draft periods.

And it needs to be looked at across multiple years to fully understand the results.

Media / fans still carry on like 2nd/3rd rounds are worth gold.
I'm probably being harsh as I really de-value picks beyond R1 (probably more than i should TBH).

Focusing on continually looking to bring in 21-25 y/o talent, who will be best 22 (or near enough) and still have a good 7+ years is more the focus these days.
Only the elite 18 year old talent can be looked at as the majority of draft selections are wasted spots for a year or 2.

It's little wonder we have a good history of succeeding at the rookie level.....i hope we continue down that path.

We’re going off expected clearance numbers here I gather… because no matter who’s on our list, we can’t beat the duck smokers on those.

What's your source for future clearance numbers?
Is that where Melbourne's expected wins came from?

He'll be a Brownlow winning back pocket by then
Nothing surprises me. Remember Leon Davis went from inconsistent goalsneak to playmaking back flanker. Checkers played as a key back all his career and Bucks put him up forward because we had noone and worked out ok

Cripps is bigger than Wayne Carey. Pendlebury is taller than Gary Ablett Senior. Times have changed a lot since then.
Carey and Ablett were alphas (as well as being immensely skilled).
McInness has to switch it on. He has to release the beast. He’s gotta own it.
He’s big enough and has talent.
That’s the point I’m trying to make.

Ginni has said he's committed to rocking up to 2027 in the fittest shape he's ever been in. Wants to work on his hitout skills and become a defensive ruck.

I agree, Pick 19 amd 38, but i'd rather give them Pick 19, still leaves us 33. They don't have a 2nd round pick this year or next year. And their first pick this year is 45.

I hope we don't roll over and give them any of next years picks.
Pick 19 is enough.
Freo is paying Schulz 300k in this final year.
They are friggin dreaming.

Melbourne's analytics are underappreciated. It's not just Champion data expected score. They combine that with a yobbo reckon rating to come to their conclusions. And they're updating it at all the time, it no longer says "Get Grundy."

Bloody freo, it's like they have to have a Custer's last stand or something. Just win a flag like us if you want to be relevant and hand over the little German

Andrew McLeod - nah let him go
Lachie Neale - nah let him go
Etc - nah let them go
Lachie Shultz - Yes! Let's make a stand about him. That'll show them that we're shrewd operators.

On the same theory that we're waiting for Freo to deal with St Kilda for Henry, you could say Geelong are waiting to see how Port Adelaide end up after trading in BZT and getting rid of Duursma. The media are making Geelong look the bad guys but there's gotta be a domino somewhere.

Almost seems like Coffield to WBD may be the opening piece.

Once Coffield is off St Kilda's books they take in Henry. And once Henry is done we see what we can get back from Fremantle along with Schultz for our F1.

Side note someone called Trade Radio earlier and suggested Schultz for F1 and AJ 😂😂😂

After watching the replay for the first time since the GF. Sober.
Brisbane are a bloody good side.
Our ferocious thirst for success got us over the line. Every Magpie player was great.
Nick made it back into the team just in time. 🙏

Anyone hear the twilight on Trade Radio about John Noble?
