Freo trying to get our future first for Schulz?

Offer should be pick 19 only as it's a fair price and almost certainly more than they'd get next year when he is a UFA, because he will not get to first round compo pick money.
Maybe delaying to see if any other Club has formed an interest and create some competition

Can someone explain to me why some people here continually suggest or seem to want AJ and or Ginnivan to be traded? AJ is taller than Mihocek who will retire soon and could be a great target at full forward especially and regarding Ginnivan I guess you simply don’t like him being a cult figure already?!
It’s the trade thread. People will always discuss fringe best players as potential trades.
Regarding aj, he is not, and will never be a KPF. Checkers whilst smaller still plays like one. AJ is very different. Height is only one factor

Nuts that he listed us before the team he grew up supporting that offers "a great lifestyle" to lure players.

lol "lifestyle" in Geelong

We need to trade them out just so we don’t have to hear about them in the trade thread anymore when clearly they aren’t getting traded.

Sadako, you are running at 5 posts per year on average?

This is a topic you care about

So here goes:

AJ’s highlights are exceptional but he goes too quiet for too long

His motor is probably not enough for repeat leads

And he may be lacking in tenacity when he does not start well

But he is generally liked by fanbase who want him to win

Regard for Ginni is tri-modal - many love him (especially The Youth), many are pissed off by him, and many are neutral but prepared to jump into either of the other 2 camps

3 things that frustrate:
Lack of endurance
Lack of speed
Poor decision-making on and off the field

I am currently in the don’t trade him but he is behind Shultzy, Bobby, Jamie, Beau and anyone of our midfielders

He's only only 20, so plenty of scope of improvement to come. If he earns a spot, that's credit to him. He's done it before, he'll back himself to do it again.
But he needs a huge pre-season to work on his fitness, strength and work rate, put in the hard yards and impress for round 1.

Hmmm, funny I thought being a tall marking target whilst playing in the forward line constituted being a kpf.

If he's not a kpf then what is he?

If Gresham received an offer good enough to trigger end of 1st round compensation then the AFL need to start enforcing the contract terms for these free agents as clubs are clearly manipulating the situation in order to avoid the possibility of having to trade for players.

Daniher was one potential example of this after he had his contract extended prior to the end of his first season at Brisbane.

Salary dumping with a valuable pick attached to a player is another area that could be looked at, with clubs needing to absorb the remaining contract in it's original state if they want that prized top 10 pick also.

I know we like all teams can benefit from the compromised nature of the trade/draft period but clubs are really starting to take the piss.

Then there is the Northern states and their academies whereby one team can have 4 highly rated players obtained for not much more than the single pick 4 they started with. Meanwhile the NGA is next to useless for everyone else as they can't match a bid inside the top 40.

Personally I've never quite understood why a % discount to the points value needs to be applied when it comes to matching F/S or NGA picks as surely having priority access to those players is benefit enough.

Also the only one of our current small forwards to kick 40 goals in a season, which was in his first full season at senior level.

Agreed. Post 2024 how many retirements do you envision? As many as 6 Or more? Why must Ginnivan (or AJ) actually need to do anything radically different other than say get fitter (cannot hurt) when Elliot Mihocek WHE etc are gone? Oh and the irony is AJ is the same weight as JUH (4cm shorter too) who we may have just a passing interest in as well…

I wouldn’t take the ginni talk to heart, most of us are taking the piss but aren’t seriously advocating he be traded unless the price was right.
