Honestly I think we’ve got glaring holes in our list everywhere which makes Fly even more of a freak. The bookends for starters
Yea much rather we used the limited draft capital we had to target those areas.

Would've been fine trading our two firsts for a premium KPF/KPD.

Bit disappointed by the lack of melting so far.
I'm outraged!!!

Though that's more about the beetroot dip I just made being a tad runny.

Adams is gone and more importantly Elliott is a year on year proposition given his age.

Schultz improves us next year and is automatic cover for Jamie once he calls time.
Absolutely this , Jamie looked to have tired or lost a bit at times. Keeps the spots in the forward line on edge to perform. I like this move

Meh, about right…

As a fan base, we lose a little ‘hope’ in speculation of what next years F1 may bring/be used for. In the interim, we gain a shed-load, with the immediate addition of a very good and somewhat flexible, best 22 footballer.

Not a fan of giving away a future first round in a trade, irrespective of who the incoming player is. It’s just gambling and fraught with danger, who could ever forget 2021.
What's worse is that Freo getting an extra pick means another young lad is going to have his heart broken by being shunted off to a WA penal colony.

If Ratogolea gets walked to the National Draft by Port would you use pick 19 (ends up being 24) on him ?

It's not like we dominated the competition/finals this year. There was quite a bit of luck involved in the close games that we ultimately won.
We finished the season on top of the ladder, with the highest percentage in the league, and then went undefeated in the finals... I'm not exactly sure how dominant you think it's reasonable to be.

If our wins were so close, we wouldn't have had the highest percentage in the league.

And if the concern is that other teams have improved and we haven't... Well that's literally what Schultz is for.

You can't make moves in the fear that next season is going all the way down the toilet.

Hyperbole: exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

Trouble is, there were not many in this thread who thought he wasn’t worth a 1st
What was said was that we didn’t want to give a future first (again) or have to add a second to a first rounder
but that's what happened, can't change it, no point anyone crying about it because it will change absolutely zero

I feel like we've overpaid for a player that's nice to have but isn't really a need. I wish we'd looked for a trade for a player in another area of the ground for what it's cost.
I would dispute that it isnt really a need. Compare us to our major rivals: the Lions. The one thing they have all over us is their forward line. None of this defensive/decoy forward rubbish every one of their forwards is a goal scoring threat: Cameron Daniher, Hipwood, McCarthy, Bailey, Rayner all capable of a day out. Meanwhile on the Collingwood forward line, we had only Checkers, Hill and Elliott as threats, and of course McStay was injured. We need a more potent forward line.

I feel like Schultz would have much higher profile and higher accepted trade value amongst supporters if he played in Victoria. His stats over the past two years - in a notoriously difficult and inconsistent position - are excellent. He's Jamie Elliott but half a dozen years younger.

I think we'll now trade Ginnivan and also this year's first rounder, so that we have some picks to work with next year.
Shultz does show some 'young Jamie' traits and has also been durable.
I know we have some other needs too, but kicking more goals is a priority.

I feel like this "in Wright we trust" mantra is getting a bit overblown. He didn't shape this premiership list in a year. It's been a decade in the making. McCrae basically took the "Buckley list" to 1 point from the GF in his first year. If we had the luck we had this year in finals last year we could've been premiers in 2022 before GW really got started. It was already a good list and just needed good coaching.
You make it sound pretty easy.

I am ok with the deal as it was what the people at the top wanted to get done.
I still think they have other deals going on that we will find out about later.
I really don't mind if we just add Sarge and that is it in the trade period.
Just thinking about our GF team and adding in McStay and now Sarge - with possibilities of AJ, Noble, Dean etc.,
We are really in a good position of B2B Flagpies.

He is Under Contract so have to pay bit overs
