Your correcy of course.
But
Your response to "what does it even mean" misses the point I think.

What does it mean when you get an open reference from a relative of your potential new employee?
What else could she report under those circumstances?

Employers don't usually put a lot of weight to such references.

I thought the comment was due to not understanding the phrase "going into bat".

Three way trade:

GWS- Lobb
Pies- Bobby
Freo - pick 27 + Cox

Make it happen.

I think that is a win of sorts to all parties but Freo the main winner.

Hill is the exact type of player we need. Electric speed and puts in multiple efforts. Perfect transition player from half back or great pressure player as a half forward. Yes Please.

I would do that trade as overall we do benefit.

That's probably one of the better ideas I've heard all trade period. Not unrealistic. The only problem is it's yet ANOTHER forward. However, if we lose JT, it's like for like.

GWS don't want another ruckman - Flynn and Briggs are good and now rumours of Lobb going back there. Then there's Preuss as well if he ever makes it out of the rehab group.

How people keep overlooking the fact that GWS are well and truly set for rucks is beyond me...

I don't know enough about GWS list. Does it benefit them, because on face value it looks like they're trading out a contracted player for a loss?

I asked the locals what they saw as their biggest list need and what they think it would take to get a deal done.

From the GWs perspective, Pies have little to trade, so would depend on if they were open to a future pick - 2R would have to be it, and we hope Pies do poorly next year. We might have to split pick #2 or #13 to now replace a guy we didn't expect to have to.

This would do it for me. I think we're giving up the most, but don't desparately need either of Cox or pick 27, so its enticing for the other clubs.

But alas, we always end up getting bent over a little so we could tinker with it a bit too, does anyone need a JT?

GWS - Lobb, JT
Pies - Bobby, pick 69
Freo - pick 27, Cox

This Bobby Hill stuff is the biggest underlying issue with what Guy and Walsh did to our list. By painting ourselves into a corner with bad contracts we have no room to move when an opportunity like this pops up. If we had interest in Stengle we absolutely have interest in Hill, but after trading our 2022 2nd I have no idea how we’d get it done unless GWS want to take a swing at Sier.

I don't think we'd be getting bent over. Hill for 27 would be excellent value and Cox has no trade value.

A further two issues. Fremantle may not have the list space to take on both Cox and 27 plus we’d then definitely need to find a state league ruck option. Zero chance of happening.

Maybe Freo pays part of Lobbs salary to even it up and make it worthwhile for GWS?

I think GWS would be a bigger stumbling block. Why would they trade a contracted Hill for Lobb. With a significant age gap, they'd have to rate the two very differently to most of us.

Lobb>Hill so long as Fremantle cover some of his wage which is supposedly part of the deal.

The Tyson Stengle craze was fun whilst it lasted, come on down Bobby Hill

I think they said pick 24.

I’d happily give an earlier pick if we could still land Lipinski and have Daicos points.

Compassionate grounds may see the price drop if he nominated us. Others are chasing though I don’t think Essendon have the picks this year to get it done. Maybe that is why they wanted 27 from us.

If that’s why they want 27 then we should take advantage of that and get them to pay up for it.

I'm not much of a Lobb fan, but in the short term I agree with you. It's the 7 year age gap and the potential that would annoy me if I was a GWS fan.
Hill wants to leave whilst they’re targeting Lobb I don’t think they can complain.

Tbh I think they’d be happy enough with 27 alone and Lobbs salary off their books.
