Understand our position in jostling away from pick 27 or lower pick to cover Daicos. Even if we had pick 2 and a lot of talk on a quick rebuild if we still had pick 2.

But would it actually have been better if we had pick 1?

If that was the case, what could we have thrown at Nth (knowing what offers they’ve just passed on).

Hypothetically which player/s and picks would we offer?

It would take pick 1 and DeGoey or Moore with a 2nd rounder coming back our way I think. No way would we pay that, but that would be what they'd ask for.

Here's the thing with 27. We don't need more multiple picks for it as we have enough points for Daicos (and we don't need as many list spots). And you can trade a draft pick right up until you use it in the draft (even after a bid comes in).

So my thinking is this. If we are just trading it for a 2nd rounder, unless we are wanting to use our 2022 first rounder for a player (and I can only think of a few that would be worth that), we should hold onto our pick 27 until draft night. Once we get past pick 1 (and maybe pick 2 depending on list spots open) we can then trade it out. The reality is I don't think clubs bid on players to hurt another club, but they do if they get an advantage out of it. If they think there is an advantage to putting us into deficit they may bid earlier than we think. Pick 27 means we don't go into deficit (as it reduces the number of list spots we need available) so it reduces the likelihood that another club would bid comes early. If a club wants pick 27 for the trade period put a premium on it to unlock it now.

Would love either of the following be added to the 43 for Pat Lipinski trade (prefer B TBH).

A, 43 for Lipinski + WB Future 4th Pick.

B, 43 + GC Future 4th round for Lipinski + WB Future 3rd Round

I never heard of a 3rd Player we are Chasing
I do recall someone on here suggesting that there was 3rd player we were trying for, but never heard anything more about it, and I haven't seen it reported anywhere so if there is a 3rd player it's completely under the radar and the media haven't got wind of it as yet.

If I was having a guess as to the order of trades:

Surprisingly I think Hill to Essendon will be one of the first ones this week... then:

Lobb to GWS (won't happen until Hill's salary is off the books)

Clark to Fremantle (Geelong wait to see what Fremantle get for Lobb)

Fort to Brisbane

Ceglar to Geelong (only happens if Fort does go)

Wingard to GWS (Hawthorn wait and see what GWS has after Hill out, Lobb in)

Lynch to Hawthorn (we wait to see what Hawthorn's picks are after Wingard)

And then the two trades with no follow-ons to be buzzer-beaters as mentioned:

Lipinski to Collingwood

Dawson to Adelaide

Probably missed some 😢

I think Hawks may manage to offload some of their senior players to lock in future pick 1. If I was tigers I'd pay up for JOM. It may cost them an extra year or two in the wilderness, but it'd be worth it to have another crack at glory.

Pick 2, future first and a wink/nudge that we wouldn't take Horne-Francis and they wouldn't bid on Daicos. Basically that would leave us in a similar to position anyway and we'd just be moving next years first forward. Potentially with pick 1 we could have bid on Darcy meaning a Daicos bid slides to 4.

On a purely in and out basis you’re on the money, but a future 3rd from 45-50 (I rate them) is pretty similar to the value of 58 in 2021, IMO.

Plenty on here have been using the SPS deal as the litmus test for the market and Lynch for Fremantle’s 3rd is less than what SPS went for and by a decent clip because as a live pick that would have ended up in the low to mid 40’s post bidding. I’m also certain Hawthorn will get more out of Lynch than WC will out of SPS so it’s a bargain in my eyes.

I think the kicker to the deal on 21 is what you alluded to with its value on draft night. I’d suggest that if we’re moving up we’ll hedge our bets and seek 24 with something small at the back end that becomes more enticing after a Darcy bid. It won’t drop until the Fort and Ceglar discussions get finalised so who knows how it looks because we could walk away with about 4 or 5 different combinations if they’re all tied up together (which I assume they are).

Hmm looking ahead to next year's draft there are a number of solid F/S and academy prospects pushing through, so Freo's future third may also shuffle further up the order after bid matches next year, although perhaps not as much as pick 58 will this year after bid matches on Daicos, Darcy and possibly one or two of the St Kilda NGA prospects.

It will be interesting to see how we navigate our way both through trades and delistings over the upcoming days / weeks as it will give us a clearer picture on where we think the bid for Daicos will come, although it would be prudent to still have a pick 1 bid covered because you never know what will happen on draft night until it happens.

NGA rules change again next year, can't match bids in the top 40.

Looks like your mail is correct. Thank you, do come again.

The guy hasn't been wrong yet! I think it's a decent deal for both parties. Lipinski should be worth more than that but the PSD factor brings it down somewhat. Looking likely that you wouldn't have needed the pick anyway as North are unlikely to make any bids
