Can tell you now, no way that is happening.
I have my own mail about JDG. He only leaves Collingwood to play for a 'big club'. You'd assume Richmond, Carlton, Essendon are big clubs other than that.

Logan McDonald already signed a contract in March so I'm not sure why he'd suddenly pack his bags up and leave. Dusty moving to Sydney and JDG to Richmond are the most realistic options but LM to Collingwood ... I'm not so sure but I wouldn't say no way is that happening.

You'd have to say that losing all of Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips have hardly had a huge negative impact on our side. Treloar is the only one that has gone on to do anything of value but he is not a match-winner, for mine.
I had actually forgotten about Phillips! (Colour me embarrassed!)
Don't forget Atu. Atu has been a pro-medi sub at North Melbourne. Every time he plays, I feel so angry with the club for letting him go.

I loved Logan McDonald early days but is he the type of forward we need if were paying big bucks?

No way would Sydney part with a 10-year full-forward for a couple of years of pensioner Dusty, champion though he is.

If they think a big game performer like Dusty gets them to a flag when added on top of the natural development of their kids then they might consider playing a bit more small ball up forward very seriously.

Imagine a forward line of Buddy, Reid/resting ruck, Heywood, Paps, Heeney 70-30 F/M and Dusty 70/30 M/F. That would give opposition defences an absolute fit each and every week if they could stay healthy.

There is a strong desire to snatch a flag up in the Harbour City and they might just be good enough to do it if with a little luck especially if they can get someone like Dusty on board for relatively low cost.

Can just imagine Jack Riewoldt retiring and they replace him with McStay. I know McStay is no superstar but there would lay the reason we'll rarely see a good side bottom out (unless it's us in 2020-2021).

McStay and Lynch would be a much better combination than Mihocek and nobody.

I know we all want to somehow pull out the next McKay, Curnow, King x 2 etc. but maybe a McStay isn't such a bad idea as long as he's not on too much coin.

I'd expect him to perform similarly to Checkers. No superstar but capable on his best day. And it might just help Checkers play longer.

That's the logical outcome, and with Jack coming off the books they'll have most of the cash for McStay there anyway if his ask will be in the $600-650k range.

If Dusty leaves for the Harbour City then you can book it in that McStay will end up at Richmond.

If we continue to trade our 1st rounders we're repeating our mistakes of the past. I could only get on board that if it were for someone exceptional. I like Hopper a lot but not for a 1st rounder.

Green on the other hand...

for sure. Just goes to show, it was never our training base.
There goes another great myth…
What about the secret Alien Communications Centre built under our training facility?
Why else would the Government pour millions into the construction & upgrading.

Toby Green is a no. If we lost JDG, we want to replace him with a saint (not the St Kilda variety) who helps at Auskick clinics, volunteers at the Centre for the Protection of Unloved Guinea Pigs, spends his time-off training or aiding the disadvantaged, is studying in a respectable field, the media love him and plays flawless football. Unfortunately, Toby Green is not that much better than JDG nor would aid in Collingwood's rebrand.

I'd recommend that you get your Green(e)'s right mate before posting in future.

p.s. No offence intended, more passing on the benefit of personal experience...

The Swans may well get Dusty if he wants to go to Sydney but it won't come at the expense of Logan McDonald, IMO. They will get him a lot cheaper than that

I'd part with a 1st rounder for Tom Green but it would take more than that.

Of course it would, but it would be a conversation we'd entertain heavily I'd hope in a future 1st + win-now player for Green type of exchange.

I'd be sniffing around Keiran Briggs (Flynn might be a bit out of reach) as a possible steak knives in that exchange too if it were me.
