Heard this from a connection within the club and make of it what you will. Grundy gone to Melbourne with their 1st & 2nd plus Weideman back and Pies to pay $250K of Grundy’s contract. Hill from GWS also done as is McStay and we are seriously looking at Mitchell. Let’s see what pans out, I’ve no particular stake in the info.
That would be a good result for Grundy tbh, as much as I’m loathe to lose him. Carlthetruth will be thrilled about the news on Mitchell. I’m awaiting eagerly to see his opinion change about his recruitment if it happens, since he’s been so aggressively adamant for the past few months that anyone who disagrees with any recruitment decision he makes has no idea about the footballs.

Rather their 1st and 2nd along with Van Rooyen....
Mate, they’re not letting go of a promising young key forward who’s contracted. People need to drop this idea, it ain’t happening.

Well we differently need one inside mid and another key back with good kicking skills
Plus a developing key forward, hopefully through the draft
Unless we get good value for Grundy rather keep him
I'd always go best available through the draft and recruit for needs, which is how I think we'll go. Even though it means overpaying for someone like McStay - that's better than overpaying and thus burning draft picks by only aiming for a particular type at the draft.

I'm pretty bullish about a tall combo involving 3 of McStay, Kreuger, Johnson, Mihocek and Henry. I think we need Ginni and McCreery to take the next step and get front and centre more, but am happy with the way the forward line is likely to shape up next year.

So double agony - FMD - thanks Ed...

(sort of suspected it was 2 😡)

And to make it infinitely worse - I think Brisbane might have used the picks to acquire Lachie Neale from Freo. Who promptly won a Brownlow.

Hope I’m wrong but devastating if so.

Ok so bare with me here guys, if the cost of Mitchell is a third rounder and the above Grundy trade of getting a first second and weid is correct the could we end up with something like this.

Mitchell in for a future 3rd, mcstay in for no trade cost frampton in for a 4th rounder, then trade our 3 thirds for Essendon 2nd rounder giving them points for father son selection. Grundy goes out for Melbourne’s first second and weid and then whatever we give up for hill.

which Gives us Mitchell mcstay hill frampton plus 2 firsts and 2 seconds this year while losing Grundy 3 thirds a fourth and a future third plus whatever hill costs.

go to the draft and use our 2 firsts on the best clearance mid we can get and a kpf then use our 2 seconds on a kpd and maybe another mid. Thoughts?

So whats the rumoured cost of Mitchell? If the deal above for Grundy is correct and Mitchell is cheap it could work out very well for us
Agree. To me, Grundy out and Mitchell in is a short term break even - at worst - I actually think it's a win, but I don't think ruckwork is as significant as many others do. Longer term we get draft picks for Grundy and save big money in the last couple of years of his contract, when it is likely to go from a gross over-payment to an absolute stinker.

We've already traded out our current 2nd rounder. And I suspect if we got Melbourne's second it'd go for Hill. I don't think we'd use more than 2 ND picks this year - if we recruit many players in. So if we were left with 2 firsts and a couple of thirds after player trades, we'd either try to trade up or kick some of them into next year.

Using some of the picks to trade up and grab cadman or Jefferson

The beauty of the Mitchell trade is that we address our most pressing need and provide our current list some time to develop. We may already have our future inside mid group in McRae, McInnes and Carmichael, so I don't necessarily think we need to specifically target another inside mid at the draft - agree a KPF is likely a need as McStay and Mihocek are short term solutions. Your proposal means nine list changes - or an additional 8 changes plus Grundy, I'd be interested in who else we delist or trade in this scenario

Only one problem with this news from inside the club, Melbourne don't have a first round pick, just the truth.

to be honest I haven’t actually looked at that or who could or should be traded or delisted as of yet

What's the issue with Sam Flanders at GC.
Played out of position when in the ones..?

Had 44 touches today in the VFL against Sydney.
37 last week and 32+ 6 out of his last 7 games.
He's not real, he's a character from the Simpsons

Ginnivan 184 78kg, Hill 175 73kg, I'd say that's bang on where they should be so I don't know where you come up with your physical underdevelopment equals lack of performance tripe. Shai Bolton would want to stack on some weight then! You keep loading up the ball machine and I'll keep whacking them over your head for six.
If you think Shai Bolton and Bobby Hill are comparable athletes and footballers then that's cool. Bolton is 14 months older and is one of the best, most dynamic players in the competition.

Your reading comprehension is also in the toilet, generally. Keep up the good work :)

Look at their stats coming through through the unders 18's virtually identical. And Bolton pick 29, 2016, Hill pick 24, 2018 and do you know why he was pick 24, he has talent! As for their career trajectories Shai has been able to play whilst Hill has had his hands full beating cancer, you didn't factor that in so glad I could clear it up for you.
