The funny part about this post, despite your tone, the suggestion that Grundy will get us the pick that Jackson will. Jackson is a pick 3 (from memory) premiership player and young. Grundy is a former AA coming off a knee reco and hasn't seen his best in 3 years. Free will need to get a top 10 if not 5 pick to get Jackson. They will be trying to use their first round pick to get higher.
Grundy hasn’t had a knee reco.

I would of thought that they’d get two first rounders

They keep raving about Scott's coaching but geez Louise he has had a conga line of quality players wander down to the cattery on an annual basis. And they are usually hardened experienced campaigners ready to slip right into the best 22. How do they keep getting everything they want? We have to fight down to the wire most of the time to grab far less quality during the past decade. We get Jesse White and they get Jeremy Cameron. We get Taylor Adams ( great player) but they get Dangerfield at his peak. And they have a history of getting very good soldiers like Isaac Smith, Tuohy, Rohan, and until recently Shaun Higgins who slip seamlessly into their side and play their role.

Perhaps the wheel is turning as Lipinsky has been a great pick up. Hopefully we get at least three of the many names linked to our club over the coming weeks. I've learned not to get my hopes up.
I don’t know Geelong and Richmond fit them into their salary caps.

Granted Jackson is young so clubs pay a premium for that, but IMO his best output is still well below the worst output Grundy has put together his last few underwhelming seasons.

He is so bloody overrated.

Clubs keep repeating the same mistakes. Richmond are chasing a gun midfielder and throwing more money than sanity at him and somehow expect his body to be still ripe at 32? I know there are stars over 30 but it's a big investment and huge risk. He could be done by 28.

Essendon has launched its bid to get De Goey. Interesting to see how they go about luring him but if he does leave, then we're really going to need Tom Mitchell and another star like Firoini. A third for Mitchell (yep, you read that correctly, a third - it was on Fox Sports this morning), is a bargain investment for a player of his calibre.
Maybe it’s a 3rd to get him across if you’re willing to pay the entire contract rather than Hawthorn chipping in.

I have no clue why we're not targeting Fiorini if the VFL has been used to make selection calls all throughout the season. Fiornini is a player I rate well ahead of Bobby Hill.
Being trumped for Taranto could be the first indication of Wright transferring his 5 year maximum contract policy to the pies. Reckon 7 years is more spreading his wage and if he’s still playing at 32 the tuggers will see it as a bonus.

If he was with us we'd think he is a star. I don't think he's a million dollar player, but what he's done as a young ruck has been elite. Saying that what Grundy did as a young ruck was elite too. He has the potential to be the best ruck in the game in a few years, but talls develop weirdly.

I wouldn't be surprised if West Coast offered their first pick for him.

Ok so bare with me here guys, if the cost of Mitchell is a third rounder and the above Grundy trade of getting a first second and weid is correct the could we end up with something like this.

Mitchell in for a future 3rd, mcstay in for no trade cost frampton in for a 4th rounder, then trade our 3 thirds for Essendon 2nd rounder giving them points for father son selection. Grundy goes out for Melbourne’s first second and weid and then whatever we give up for hill.

which Gives us Mitchell mcstay hill frampton plus 2 firsts and 2 seconds this year while losing Grundy 3 thirds a fourth and a future third plus whatever hill costs.

go to the draft and use our 2 firsts on the best clearance mid we can get and a kpf then use our 2 seconds on a kpd and maybe another mid. Thoughts?
You've won me - except for "bare with me"

okay, let me spell it out for you seeing as you are having trouble linking the moving parts - the only reason Melbourne will take Grundy is due to losing Jackson to Freo. Now, if Jackson goes to Freo then Freo will most likely trade their 1st rounder and hence that traded pick Melbourne receives will then be on traded for Grundy.

You would be well served to leave out the snark and condescension - I am not a teenager in my parent’s basement making s**t up to troll or big note.
Which should give us added incentive to beat Freo so we get a better draft pick from Melbourne!

Do we need to find 8 senior list spots?

If he was with us he'd be right up there with Blair, Madge and the Brown Bros as BF canon fodder . He's not that good and marking isn't a strength, all he does is look good for a big man. This will come back and bite freo right on the ass

I think it’s assumed they’ll have at least one for Jackson assuming he goes West as expected.
And also a future first. But that’s inconvenient for Carls truth.

Wouldn’t mind pinching Griffen Logue as a key defender…fits the age bracket we should be looking at 24. Would form a formidable athletic combo with Moore, loves to attack and rebound as well.prefer him over any of the other tall options and particularly McStay who is coming at quite a cost.

No, the Freo first round mentioned - roughly pick 14, will only be part of the trade for Jackson.

Except we gave Moore 6.

I must be one of the few that thinks Bobby Hill be good for us.

I’m all for it.

GWS wanted an early second rounder last time from Essendon. But given GWS cap issues, the fact he is out of contract and his unfortunate health issues, he should cost bugger all now. Probably just one of our thirds.

IMO it’s still blatantly obvious we still lack a speedy crumber in our forward line. There are very few in the draft and most would still be much more speculative than Bobby.
