I’m finding it hard to accept that we’ll lose De Goey for nothing, however, it must be the most likely outcome you’d think. Can’t see us standing him down or giving a prolonged suspension just so that he stays on the books til the October FA window to net us a compo pick, I reckon his contract will be terminated the minute that the legal proceedings in the US are complete. Which means, we’ll get zilch…. Us giving up first rounders in De Goey, Beams, Treloar, Steph… and having none left on the list hurts…. It is what it is unfortunately

I wouldnt be sure of that. If he is found guilty I think its very likely , if not he will get a suspension no doubt but we will keep him on the list and try to get something

The senario that is a pipedream is a round 1 compo pick. Virtually impossible I would have thought. If we get anything it will be not much

We need to have faith in the rebuild, and continue the course. Macrae, McInnes, and Nick Daicos will get to develop their midfield game next year, and l have faith that these guys will develop into very good mids for years to come...

I don’t think we can fix it. We just need a complete reset unfortunately. I’m open to Moore leaving now to if he wants to bend the club over with money. No point paying stars big $ whilst down the bottom of the ladder. Two firsts plus compo, we need to accept we aren’t fixing this anytime soon. It needs to be done properly, not st kilda style

Chances are that he'd probably get lucky and avoid jail time Dave, given that this would be considered to be a first offence, these are misdemeanours rather than felonies and there was no pre-planned or aggravated element to the incident based on what has been reported.

He would have an extended probationary period though if found guilty and likely would have significant difficulty getting back into the USA again after being deported.

The victims will, however, sue his idiotic arse at the first opportunity now that they know he's a millionaire, so it is going to hit him where it hurts (ie. in the wallet), regardless of whether he still has an AFL career after the criminal proceeds are done with or not.

Doing a little digging it appears that this may not be the case, at least not for New York / USA laws anyway. Whether a SORA registration happens depends entirely on the judge's assessment of the incident, given that it appears to be in the lowest classification and the victim was an adult, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the court case.

Even if he escapes a conviction, or is convicted but escapes with a probationary sentence and/or avoids SORA registration, there is an optics perspective which will likely influence whether any club would want to retain or bring in a player who clearly has issues with decision making and control whilst inebriated, has repeatedly failed to surround themselves with the right people and has allegedly invaded a woman's personal space and touched her inappropriately without her express permission whilst drunk on what was supposed to be a trip to engage in a high level intense training program in preparation for the upcoming pre-season.
