I think you're going to be both disappointed and ecstatic if that's what you want. Nick's not the finished product as an inside mid with a fair bit of physical development to come, but in his first year in the role, he finished third in the league in clearances and second in the Brownlow - with nearly all his votes coming after he moved to a first possession role.

He's already the best ground ball hunter in the league and regularly finds space for himself or teammates with the best ball handling, awareness, agility and vision in heavy traffic in the league - and as he gets stronger, he'll become even better at creating his own space or putting a teammate into space. No one will be as good as Nick at the crucial aspect of getting the ball from inside to outside. It'll trump him playing a stationary role and then looking to peel off if someone like Mitchell wins it. We'll be watching Nick on the move hunting the ball at stoppage for a decade or more to come and individual awards will rain from the sky.
I think the bolded says more about how the umpires dish out their votes.

On the whole first possession first receiver debate, I’d like Nick to have the flexibility to switch through both depending on how the game is going and he doesn’t get if he’s our main first possession player.

that's not the role we are discussing
He'll be hunting the first possession at stoppage, which is all I'm talking about - and he'll get a heap more clearances than our other mids. He's not going to do it like Cripps or Tom Green because he's got different strengths, but he's not going to be sitting back waiting to receive, because he showed htis year that he's our best ball winner, by a big margin. And we'll set up to take advantage of the reality that he's the best loose ball player in the league, by a considerable margin. We're not going to set up with our main clearance guy as a big bloke who wrestles and wins out through strength.

Put the Ferrari in to do the Ford Rangers job.
I like it 👌

Don’t you mean Hilux? Because you never send a ute to do a Hilux job.
Don't be silly. Ranger is the only actual truck in the field. Sits on a truck chassis.
True.
Hilux comes second but is really a tonka toy.

Besides all that, fat drives a ranger.

Feck the trade thread. I'm bored now.
What wheels do you all drive?
I suspect Scodog10 has a tonka Hilux.
How about the rest of you. Tell me

1986 Toyoa AE86 Corolla here - could likely drive it straight underneath your monster Ranger

We did this year and he was excellent and will only get better.

The ferrari is quicker off the mark and handles better in heavy traffic than a ford escort - let the ford escorts block a path for him. It's what I think we'll be seeing for the next decade.

It used to be Toyota cars and Honda bikes almost exclusively in Thailand - surprised Ford is getting a look in?

Surprisingly all Hilux and Rangers are all made here in Thailand now.
Everyone just about owns one or the other.
