Is he contracted?More implying he may look for more opportunities elsewhere.
I hope not. Fingers crossed he stays, but don't think anyone could blame him if he leaves.
Geez he’s 21 years old and 6 foot 4 and athletic. We can’t afford those traits and age profile to walk out.Nah. On his last year. And he's in limbo along with a number of players for a new contract. So its a waiting game.
And he may not be walking out.Geez he’s 21 years old and 6 foot 4 and athletic. We can’t afford those traits and age profile to walk out.
I am still optimistic about McInnes.
Great size and fairly quick.
I think another preseason or so will see him become a really goo
Exactly, we should be backing him in and investing more time, give him a 2 year extension.Geez he’s 21 years old and 6 foot 4 and athletic. We can’t afford those traits and age profile to walk out.
Not trade value, but there's salary cap reliefHere's a question I have zero idea about.
Do we get any form of compensation in trade value Re: Murphy and Carmichael?
I doubt it but curious
I think he will request a trade to get more opportunitiesDo you think we’ll end up moving him
Of course. I hope he stays and becomes a star. And he may not be walking out.
Of course. I hope he stays and becomes a star.
Who’s going to offer them those opportunities though?Sadly I think Reef (and probably Fin too) will be looking for other opportunities to play regular football elsewhere. It would be shame to see them go, especially Reef as I think he has some great attributes and just hasn't harnessed it all together for a sustained period yet.
I would imagine the only way we have of keeping him on is if there's been some clear communication about his near future with Mihocek, Cox and Elliott all 30+, but that isn't an easy conversation to have. Additionally having had the chance to meet and chat with Reef a few times, he's a switched on young man, he'll be aware that AFL careers and opportunities are not unlimited and he needs to make the most of his career where/while he can.
I think Melbourne and Richmond would have serious looks at Reef - Melbourne went after him last year apparently, and he would fit nicely in the Tigers forward line imo. He'd of probably played just about every game for the tigers this year, and would've certainly had multiple runs at senior level for the demons this year.Who’s going to offer them those opportunities though?
Agree. If they have concerns with him at FF then throw him behind the ball at HB. Reckon with his pace & speed he would be great. Just try something different.Geez he’s 21 years old and 6 foot 4 and athletic. We can’t afford those traits and age profile to walk out.
Those options make sense for Reef.I think Melbourne and Richmond would have serious looks at Reef - Melbourne went after him last year apparently, and he would fit nicely in the Tigers forward line imo. He'd of probably played just about every game for the tigers this year, and would've certainly had multiple runs at senior level for the demons this year.
Finlay is probably harder to pinpoint where he'd get games - given most teams have a depth of midfielders at present. He would seem to fit Ross Lyon's style with that defensive, contest mindset (as boring as it is) so he could be a good contest partner with Jack Steele for them?
Geez he’s 21 years old and 6 foot 4 and athletic. We can’t afford those traits and age profile to walk out.
We’ve had other players with age, size and athleticism on their side - and they don’t make it. Reef just hasn’t shown enough. The fact that he keeps getting selected only to be dropped again - even in this injury-riddled season - indicates that the coaches are also desperate for him to succeed. But he doesn’t. So out he goes again.
Those saying that he should get a block of games, or a long consistent run at it, as per young Maynard and IQ - both those players showed early on that they could play and would get better with consistent exposure. Reef has not shown that.
If the coaches had faith in what Reef could become, he’d be playing every week.
Bulldogs have English as trade piece. They look the front runners for BarrasSo Hawthorn now into Barrass according to 7. They must have 4 million dollars in cap space down that way.
No way.I’d consider it for Freo’s two first rounders.
Reef is an asset.Exactly, we should be backing him in and investing more time, give him a 2 year extension.
We're very good at hanging on to these types of players until their trade value hits zero and then deciding to let them go.Sadly I think Reef (and probably Fin too) will be looking for other opportunities to play regular football elsewhere. It would be shame to see them go, especially Reef as I think he has some great attributes and just hasn't harnessed it all together for a sustained period yet.

I don’t recall. Do you think that would help?has he ever played behind the ball? half back?
