Pendles was 6ft 3" and 91kg when drafted.

Naicos was 6ft and was listed at 72kg on his draft profile.

you surely dont think that's comparable.
Of course. You think Nicks inside work is shit? Nope it’s already exemplary and will get better as he continues and his body matures. Naive to think he can’t play inside mid for 200 games because of his build. Only a Carlton supporter or a moron would argue that.

He can win his own ball, but 'clearances' aren't 'first possession' (although they can be interelated).

Stats aside, we ideally want a really good 'first possession' at bounces ball magnet to get a cheeky handball to to Daics for the elite 'clearance'.

A younger Tom Mitchell. A drug free Clayton Oliver. Hayden Young from Freo is a ripper on this front. Ed Allen showed something in this regard in the last round (albeit a dead rubber) and we would love him to step up. Can Perryman be that guy? Or get Maynard in the guts?

Without Mitch and Adams this year (and JDG injured a lot), we had times where we got smashed through the guts like after a long evening on the piss followed by a 2am curry from a Bain Marie.
Thankyou, great comment.

You are absolutely correct, at times we got smashed through the guts this year without the one, big bodied in and under mid who goes in there and delivers it to our stars who, whether anyone claims otherwise or not, are more potent on the outside than on the inside.

As you said, "clearances" are not first possessions.

...and do we want Nick Daicos to bear the brunt of that physical brutality? You take care of your geniuses, you don't send them in to be brutally bashed just because they're good at withstanding it and still escaping with the ball. You want your genius to remain pristine for as long as possible.

Apart from Titch, there is no one on our list who (yet) is fully capable of playing this role, or even an approximation to it.

We are totally dependent upon the improvement of Ed Allan and Ned Long this year in such a role. Hopefully, this does happen. But we haven't taken any insurance out on this.

We’ve brought in Perryman for this. Houston also frees up our existing players

Just before the 1979 Grand Final - the then VFL changed the rule that boundary umpires require a degree of sight
Should have included a sense of hearing as well. If Harmes was 3 rows back (which he was) then the siren went 5 minutes before Kerry Good marked that ball in the 19080 night GF. Was devastated as a kid wondering when something would go right for us :(

I also want Nick breaking from stoppage with ball in his hands, but I think we'll get that more often with Nick getting to the rukman's feet, as well as getting others breaking from stoppage more often after Nick handballs have put them in the clear.

To me, this is Nick's progression:

Y1 develops into one of the best outside players in the league
Y2 becomes the best outside player in the league and starts developing his inside game
Y3 develops into one of the best inside players in the league - and he was last year despite some still thinking of him as an outside player

Y4 he'll become the best inside player in the league as well as being the best outside player in the league.

He's ****ing extraordinary.
Sorry, but your turning my head inside out.
