Yeah, the upside of doing the injury in august. Unless he has set backs, but if things are progressing well, I don't see why we would restrict him playing some footy -- not to mention in a contract year, toward the end of the season.
It'd be a shit message to send to a young player during rehab. We don't want you to play for 18 months.

Yeah you want them to be motivated and have some belief in themselves through rehab. ACL's are tough as it is. If you are being told you can't play for another year.. Just because we want to put someone else in your spot on the list -- Not sure that would achieve anything good.

Don't think the AFL chief medical officer will see his injury as one that requires longer than 12 months to rehab. .
Yeah, and he could be right to play some footy in May or June. We're not gonna say, no mate.. you've got to wait until 2026.

sufferring something like an achilles tendon rupture between august and November is where you would have grounds to put them on the LTI and gain a spot to use in the rookie draft.

Oh yeah those ones do take at least 12 months. I've heard very painful.

If he misses 12 months he might play 1 or 2 games at best
Yeah, but seems they arent putting a ceiling on his recovery like mcstay.
He could come back in 9 months
I think they'll see how his recovery is progressing, and if there is a set back, then maybe then they can put him on LT1 and get a pick in MSD
