If Geelong have to trade for Danger, are we likely to be in the market for Henderson? If so, what do you think he is worth?

I reckon the rule changes (90 rotations) are going to suit players like Sidebottom from an endurance point of view, and although not relevant to this post in terms of game strategy (think the press becomes less sustainable, foot skills more imperative than ever), there's a slight 'tweek' to what is the prototype player, and where endurance has always been an emphasis, it becomes even moreso with the rule change, although endurance can be built up over time, the players who don't generically have much of it will find it harder than ever before to get games. Sure, get rid of the sub, but we'll how it unfolds, ok recruiters obviously go for the best available, but these days you need patient draftees as well as talented, certainly a challenge for clubs these days to get the balance right between playing the young kids without impeding on your side's chances of winning week to week .. Then if you don't play them until they're ready, if they're impatient, they walk to a club who will offer them a better opportunity. Freeman certainly was drafted with high endurance attributes as well as speed, he'll be well suited to the rule changes, just needs to get on the park, & maybe not ours

Fortunately some of you aren't in control of list management.
Sidebottom won't be offloaded or discussed about.
We evaluate our list, so why not have the discussion. If the outcome is any different than that we keep him then we are in trouble. And be prepared for a whole lot more of this next year when he gets out of contract and other clubs are circling with some very attractive offers worth considering.

Let other clubs circle. He is a Victorian lad. I have no doubts he will be a Collingwood player for life.

Yeah..thank god no one in our list management team ever discuss hypotheticals !

That's fine, discuss it, its not an ideal scenario though. We are looking to improve our list not worsen it.
He is one of our top liners of which we don't have as many left as we once did. He isn't for sale.

Adelaide match Cats offer for Dangerfield.
Adelaide approach Collingwood for trade.
They request direct swap Danger for Sidey.
No player is untouchable if the price is right.

Ps Sidey going no where...part of our next Premiership push. Loved by coach. Hard worker. Big game performer. Still haven't seen the best of him yet.

I just read your post out loud and had to get mouth to mouth from the local hobo! This is could be the new urban warfare. Send your enemy messages with all of the full stops replaced with commas and wait in the shadows till they pass out from oxygen deprivation.

Danger wants to go to Geelong.
Adelaide can approach us all they like, the player won't sign for us.
Sidebottom also won't accept a trade to Adelaide ether as a Victorian lad. If he were available he would have plenty of options in Melbourne like a Hawthorn.

Adelaide matching Geelongs offer seems farfetched to me.
For what? To improve from pick 16ish to pick 12?
Plus Cats won't have the currency to do that deal.
No club has matched any FA offer and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

haha when i wrote it made sense, in hindsight a load of dribble. Good thing I'm not part of the Westpac Centre brainstrust !

The trick is to take a breather between the full stops. With a bit of practice you can do it.

Danger says "No thanks I'm off to Geelong"

No player can be sent to a Club they don't want to be at.
Its very rare these days that a player doesn't get to the Club he nominates
I think Ryan O'Keefe in 2010 was the last player who didn't.
Free Agency has changed everything and has almost been extended to all players regardless of contract status

Danger will be at Geelong if he nominates them

I hope Adelaide do match the offer and force Geelong to give up there first round pick at least for Dangerfield.

Pick 9 is still better than 14 and will not allow Geelong to double dip in getting Danger and keeping a top 10 pick.

What would everyone think of us offering Jarrad Grant from the doggies a contract? Is apparently testing the free agent waters. I think his best footy is quality, obviously can go missing a fair bit but I think could be worth a punt. Wouldn't have to give anything up for him and doubt he would cost to much but could be a handy 3rd forward for us.
i'd rather trade pendles to the lions for jackson paine.
well maybe not pendles.... :D
but you get my drift

What a bizarre assumption that every conceivable trade involving Sidebottom would worsen our list? You are aware we would get something of similar value back for him, right?

So according to The Sun Scott Burns is a good chance for the Adelaide job, wonder who will replace him?

Good for him but I rather liked the idea of him at Collingwood and WC thought highly of him.
If Burns goes, then an obvious choice would be Stevie J. Give him a chance, great football brain and you just now he'll have some ideas with plenty of flair and freedom.

If anything could make him bulk up a bit, mayne it could be our facilities. In saying that, I'd rather take a punt on that Ash Close in our VFL side. Similar build and height but can mark. Would be a lot cheaper also.

But it all comes down to whether you want to keep a player who wants to be somewhere else. That's why players on contract are let go.

I don't think they really have a choice to be honest. They have to match it. His manager knows they'll match it and I dare say Geelong does too.

It's Danger for a compo pick in the mid teens
Vs
Danger for a pick in the top 8 and I dare say another high pick or decent player.

Shane O'Bree maybe?

I'd promote Dale Tapping.

I seriously think that having someone assist Bucks who has actually coached a team of his own for a few seasons is better then bringing in some assistant who has never coach a senior team in his life.

Tapping also deserves a promotion of sorts, although the VFL side would be weaker without him.

Sanderson is the other option as mentioned above.

Go for coaches, not assistants thanks.
