A few of us try and tell everyone that every year. But everyone seems to ride on every word she says for some reason.

I think because some people just want any news especially Positive Collingwood News

Aish not stupid, Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne, Gibson et al will be gone in couple of years, window shut, when he's a 22yo reaching his prime. Not rocket science to see who's set up to have the better list.

That is rubbish reasoning...if that was his mentality he would have nominated us!

You do know Box Hill Hawks just made their third grand final in a row?

So Yet Again Paige and here Web-Site shows that she posts Crap that is False
That Facebook page is not run by Paige, Dave, and hasn't been run by her for nearly two years.

Whoopee doo, Box Hill Hawks 3rd GF in a row, I'm sure they've got ready-made replacements for those guys waiting in the wings ... Sure there's a lot to envy about that club at the moment, but the landscape can change pretty quickly when you lose key players like them, you obviously don't see it that way

Your right three Grand Finals in a row is pretty average :drunk:

If the Pies did that I would guarantee you we would be talking Dynasties.

We can only dream of being in Hawthorns league.

Aish not committing until Hawthorn finishes in 2015 makes perfect sense.

I thought she Did? Then who Runs it? I knew she runs a Site like that
She started it, but handed it over to someone else ages ago as she had too much on her plate with TAC cup radio and Supercoach Paige.

She still does Q&A's with them on draftees leading up to the draft, but that's about as much involvement as she has. That page in particular usually only relays info from media sources. As far as AFL pages on Facebook go it's one of the better ones.

Okay - Did not know she handed it off bit back.

Well it does seem it uses Media Reports.

Showing SEN is not the Most Reliable Source as well.

Good Point that other ones like that are Poor or Just make stuff completely up

You're right that SEN is not the most reliable source. In the pages defence though, they always reference the media outlet that made the report, and specifically said that there had been no confirmation by Aish's management or the Lions.

We'll see what happens. I'm pretty bullish about our prospects the next 5 years+, moreso than hawthorn's, but that's just my opinion

Fair enough........hopefully your "bullish" equates to 3 premierships or more in 7 years like the Hawks.

No, this is the second time they've referenced something that didn't exist. First time they sourced the Herald Sun regarding some news that didn't actually appear in the Herald Sun anywhere. This time the reference of a SEN report that didn't actually occur. It's one thing to post rumours and state them as such, but to pass themselves as credible by naming sources under fabricated stories is ridiculous.

Never saw the herald sun one. I heard that they put something up the other day but then took it back down straight away. Was that it?

Yeah, it wasn't straight away though. I mean, everyone gets things wrong, but is it that hard to check before putting stuff up? Last year they also frustrated the hell out of me by taking a story, listing the source, but paraphrasing the article and quotes and in turn slightly altering the meaning and context. What's the point of quoting something if you're going to change it? I can't believe I get so worked up over this.

Announcing Aish has agreed to join us from a Age or HS suppose Article

I can understand Aish potentially ending up at Hawthorn, but why would he? If he wants to play footy regularly, that would be my last choice. They've already got O'Rourke and Hartung as two of their young gun kids who are struggling for regular games.

I'm starting to worry less about reading into anything involving us and trades. Since Treloar nominated us, all I've heard is how Richmond might swoop. Yesterday I read that "Aish has nominated Collingwood", two hours later on radio they're talking about him and they didn't even have us in the top 3 clubs. I'm just going to wait till the trade period and hope we bring in some talent.

Referencing sources, quoting precisely and cross-checking evidence are all basic things I teach Year 11 students to do. Journalists I think are meant to employ these skills at least in an old school sense. The problem might be that in the feeding frenzy of news that is twitter and Soc media they all seem so desperate to reveal some fragment before anyone else they don't bother with any of the old processes. We should devise a ratings system for all news purveyors at this time and grade them on accuracy giving penalty points for impulsive and sloppy news breaking. I suspect SEN would rank down the order.

FWIW I like SEN their brand of swirling unchecked breaking news makes for interesting listening, they sometimes get things right and break news first. But they are not professional journos, more like a bunch of ex footballers sharing gossip.
