Grrrrrrr - why is there always drama with our trades?

How do Geelong manage seamless blockbuster trades, while we get double fisted by every club we speak to?

We are not called Hollywood.....sorry Collingwood for nothing!!

The Shaw and Adams trade was always going to go ahead, but if you remember correctly it dragged on until the end, assumedly with lots of haggling over the sweetener. I suspect the same thing is going on here and seems to go one with all of our trades. I don't think that we can blame other clubs. It's the way we do business and over the last few years, we've walked away with very good deals.
Haggling would have been over the proportion of Shaw's salary we'd be paying.

Absolutely agree on context. But who's to say we're not the ones playing hardball? Maybe, just maybe we're offering unders to both GWS and Brisbane and any righteousness from us as a supporter group is ill-founded? I don't see any frustration in it at all, but hey, I'm pretty naive.

You're right, there's more than an element of uncertainty about what's actually going on. In other words, we have NFI, which then leads us to analyse/over-analyse public comments.

Brisbane have made public comments which suggest that they intend to be bastards. GWS have today made comments which suggest that they intend to be difficult. Into that context steps Bucks, making a supposedly innocent comment about a relatively smooth trade. All I can say is that if Bucks wasn't intending to obliquely address Collingwood's own trading situation, then I'd be surprised by his naivety.

I'd also be surprised if we're the ones playing hardball. It just doesn't seem to be in our interest to do so, although obviously we'd be doing everything we can to ensure that we don't bend ourselves over for an unlubricated serve of bastardry. But hey, who knows?

People saying that the Adams/Shaw deal went smoothly have short memories. It was one of the more ridiculously drawn out deals I can remember. 19-20 days for a simple direct swap that was on the table from day one? The Treloar deal is far more complicated so to expect it to be done in a day or two is optimistic to say the least.

I am excited to get Howe. He has been a little inconsistent, but that could be because Melbourne don't know where they want to put him. One week he is half back flank, next week on the wing, and the next on the Half forward flank.

It bodes well, because he is learning to be defensive, so when he plays forward that experience helps.

He is at the right age where he starts to put things together and becomes more consistent. Started slowly this year, and finished very strongly.

Imagine how much ink will be in our forward line, if we line up like;

HF: Elliott, White, Howe
F: Swan, Cloke, Williams

I know Marley usually plays in the Backline, but I'd like to throw him in there for the all tatts forward line.

I've been thinking the same thing. I certainly remember it.

I'm sure they would have been after steak knives and so would we...

May as well try. You'd rather your absolute best negotiation rather than wondering what if.

I hope we don't trade Witts as I think he will be a gun (Goldstein like). But if it happened I think he is far more valuable than Aish and would only do it to secure some sort of big forward. I would prefer to keep Witts as good big men are harder to come by than mids and we can't afford to bet the farm on Grundy becoming our saviour.
The man cannot mark over his head. Never be Goldstein like.

Exactly when saying "SEN" it's important to say who exactly said it. If it's a talk back caller then no. If it's a journo it has more creditability
No.

My meaning is that; unless they are absolute certain with inside info, then they'll make shit up, even if its the logical outcome.

SEN employ many dreggs of society.

I think 2 first rounders for Treloar is overs. especially in isolation if we get nothing in return.
Maybe 2 second rounders back our way , or a second and third rounder.
The fairest deal is round 1 2015 and round 2 2016.
They said as much on trade radio, also commenting that the pies have been more then fair. However GWS are being pricks which has more to do with Eddie's or the clubs stance on things like acadamy players from interstate and other various scenarios.
Mathews i think the ceo from GWS is ringing clubs telling them to keep the door open for Treloar , eventhough he said multiple times Collingwood.
GWS are being reall knobs , we can not give to first rounders for him , Even if the idiots from punt rd offer to first rounders GWS are still getting a better deal from us this year.
We need to hold our nerve , its all frigin politics and the GWS are getting personal.

But we had over a Month to Negotiate the Trade and looks like there was none at all done

I don't think we have had to rely on mediation ever before as a club during the trade period but the way that GWS and Brisbane are beating their chests I think that it could definitely eventuate this year.

But with Adams. There was no Threat of Trading him Elsewhere though

While he has little or no idea about many things, its the way he belittles anyone who does have an opposing view on the subject, that I really don't like about him.
He tries to put down other people's opinion by dragging the topic down to the ridiculous levels.
He will never ever admit he is wrong and he will degenerate those who have stood up to him in the past.
The only part of his show I really listen to these days is when Greg Denham is on and gives it to him. He is getting harder and harder to tolerate. Even when you take what he says with a grain of salt. This trade nonsense is really hard to take. That and the constant interchange discussions.

I believe Gubby Allan and most of the football department at GwS saw our offer as fair and reasnable.
Its there ceo Dave Mathews that is taking it personal and is trying to screw us . They are the ones that are looking like clowns at the moment.
At the end of the day they will come to the party they are not going to let him go in the PSD.
