I reckon when it goes over the table at the AFL for approval, the Rules On The Run Committee will find a way to veto it
Maybe. But Brisbane getting a PP when they have only won one game less than Carlton over the same period is a little dodgy. Both the Lions and blues have players wanting to leave their corresponding clubs. Kreuzer being granted a band 1 pick (pick 2) is also a joke.

To soften the blow they may allow Brisbane a PP (Schache), Carlton pick 1 (weitering), Carlton Kreuzer compo pick due to salary being paid above $450,000 and doing SFA for the last three years (Francis or Curnow), Brisbane pick 3 (Francis or Curnow). Both teams get the talls/ players they are after and the AFL begin the rebuild of a once strong Melbourne based club and try to stop the haemorrhage of AFL in QLD

Sure, I am overstating kreuzers lack of ability. He is not useless. He is average. He'd be on par with jarrod witts imv. That's part of the problem. A guy who is 26/27 and has played footy all his life is regularly injured and was drafted as a number 1 pick is comparable to a guy who started footy late, was an academy pick and has huge scope for improvement and sound body.

We should be looking at bundling up whatever picks necessary to facilitate the realist move and keep witts.

I'd only be open to moving wits if it is to aquire a young KPF or quick pact skillfully rebounding defender.

Bringing in Kreiser with all his injury history and 600k price tag does not make sense to me. Even if we do get rid of Witts.
I'm all for bringing in another key position player if it can be done. I've said a few times that we should be looking for bookends who can hold their own and help the development of the younger players on that line.

I don't want to repeat what I wrote to Scodog about Kreuzer's role should we get him. Instead, I'll say that White wont suddenly have a breakout year and be what we all wanted him to be. Flaky above the shoulders and doesn't want to impact contests the way a forward should. I just don't think he is that good although he is supposed to be a great athlete. He has attributes that he just isn't able to use to great effect on the field. He's not on his own.

I want to believe in Witts but at the moment but I don't see him getting better. I hope I'm wrong. Kreuzers game reading ability will be better than Witts'. Does that mean I want Kreuzer, not necessarily. I'm six of one, half a dozen of another with this one but I'm not going to go as far as saying that he is a dud or just average.

FWIW, I think the 600 plus price tag is media exaggeration, the Pies won't pay that.

I liked Elliott's game on Sunday. He worked pretty hard further up the ground and there is no doubt he's got amazing talent. I'm not sure he's the type of guy you just let go.

If there is a problem, we work with him and sort it out. I just think he's been frustrated this year with injury and who knows, maybe there are some things off field playing on his mind.

He's so valuable to our team and the type of guy who can't be replace easily. I'm not saying he's Luke Parker, but look at the difference between his season this year and last. You don't just trade because of a bad year.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but what about this for a trade period (assuming Shaz doesnt sign)

Shaz, Ben ken and our first round next year to Adelaide for Danger. I know he is a restricted free agent but i think that is fair for the crows.

Our first this year and whatever we get for Witts for Treloar. We can even throw in our 2nd this year if necessary and get somebody like Hampton.

Kreuz as a free agent.

So our ins are Danger, Treloar, Kreuz and Hampton/whoever.

Outs are Shaz, Ben ken, Witts, our first 2 picks this year and our first next year.

It may appear we are selling the farm but apparently an extremely weak draft this year and our midfield suddenly becomes one of the best in the comp.

It is on the proviso Shaz wants out as i still want him to stay.
No way we can do Treloar, Dangerfield and Kreuzer under the salary cap.

Lets assume the club already has managed the cap to allow for a "war chest" this year as has been alluded to. Maybe that takes care of Treloar. Then we delist Young, Armstrong, Keefe, Thomas and Gault. Trade out Witts and an older established player surplus to needs such as Goldsack, Macaffer or Toovey, and that takes care of Danger and Kruezer. Fill remaining spots with draftees, rookies and recycled cheapo players. Not impossible.

Dangerfield asking for 1.1 million totally excludes him from our calculations.
 Is that over two years?

Not sure about that.......He was on between $600K - $700k last season but if Scully is making a million a season - Dangerfield should be on $2million

Well the Club Rates Him and we are not Stupid like MM did for Daisy.

Hine and Co would do everything possible to make sure he can hopefully live up to a Price Tag of that.

To quote Forest Gump's mother: "Stupid is as Stupid Does".

Varcoe aside, we've shat the bed a few times with free agency.

I'd rather get a Hudson-style "break glass in case of emergency" mature rookie, upgrade Cox to the senior list as our second ruck, and spend the coin on Aish and Scharenberg, or keep it up our sleave to go towards a Hogan or Patton at the end of next year.

To end all the crap, I have not spoken to any clubs or been offered anything by another team! Media is once again full of it.

Just goes to show you can't believe everything the media puts out:rolleyes:

If we need a compliment for Grundy, get Jon Giles from Essendon. Would cost half as much and brings most of what Kreuzer can. If we want a young key forward who can also ruck, go for Mitch Harvey at Port. Can't get a game ahead of John Butcher and Paul Stewart because of fitness and potentially because of Hinkley but has all the tools to partner with Moore for the next 10 odd years.

The biggest queries on the likes of Higgins and Varcoe were injuries and application. Kreuzer doesn't have a question mark on application, so he won't really improve hugely as a player by being brought into a new environment. The biggest issue outside of injuries is simply that he's not a natural forward. He's been tried as a foil for Potential in the past when they had Warnock in the middle and it failed hard. If it did work, Carlton would be playing him similar to how they're playing Levi Casboult now. Again, his overhead work isn't bad and he's good as a Jolly-esque sneaking forward ruckman. His mobility means he's a good hole plugger and hole puncher. But his leading patterns are poor (rarely times his leads at the right time into clear space, doesn't know how to create space for others), he runs under the high ball (misjudges the drop of the ball), and provides as much defensive pressure as you'd expect from a ruckman. So as a forward/ruck, he'd be poor at the forward aspect of it.

You seriously can't tell me that a guy who has never kicked 15 goals in a season is going to come out and bag ~40 in his 9th year at AFL level playing a position he has already tried and failed at playing.

Is Kreuzer a spud? No, of course not. He's a very good AFL player and would be a noticeable improvement on Grundy as a #1 ruck. But he's not good at what we're seemingly needing him to do. I'm already against trading Witts, I would happily give up two first rounders for Treloar and Hampton/Finlayson/steak knives. But even if we ship Witts off, Kreuzer isn't the right acquisition unless we are turning Grundy into a forward/ruck or sticking him back in the VFL for development (which is insanity).

Mitch Harvey, Jon Giles, Sam Grimley. Probably others that I missed too. We have other options to explore if we want a backup for Grundy or a forward/ruck that will stay with us for the long haul. Honestly, White isn't doing that badly. I wouldn't mind if he stayed in the VFL forever due to his inability to kick clutch goals, but on balance, he does okay. Our big issue is that he's being forced to be our #2 or even #1 at times when he needs to be #3.
