I can't catch fish atm but give it another month and I will be smacking those bass off the surface
Like Rick James?

Who plays on Rayner and Cameron tonight? They always get the better of us.

Rayner is very much a Gary Rohan type. Capable of playing like peak Wayne Carey but mostly plays like Jack Watts. You'd think Bruzzy would lock him away.

IQ to the biggest downhill skier in the comp, C.Cameron. Wear him like a glove and don't allow him to get out the back. Cherry picking campaigner.

If i was a betting man, and i am. Howey will go to Andrews and perform a similar job to what he did last week on Stewart. He's the perfect player to do it.
I think that helps big time and even crystal balling into finals I think being able to stop intercept markers like Harris Andrews, Alir Alir, Jake Lever etc could be huge for us.

It's important that we win this, ideally Bris or Port finish 4th, that way we miss the dees in a qf.

Freo to beat Port and the Dees to do the hawks.

It's also important to win, purely from a belief perspective, if we win tonight given our outs, the confidence will go through the roof.

Ultimately, we rely on system more than any of the other contenders, that's why the belief is so so imperative for us.

Agreed. One of our big issues in recent times is our lack of inside 50's and retaining it once it goes in. No surprise last week that with Howe doing a job on Stewart, it stopped a lot of lot of intercept marks which then allowed the ball to hit the deck more, which resulted in 12 or so tackles inside 50 for us.

As you pointed out, every team, including us have a very good intercept defender and you can't let them float around unattended.

We didn't play Geelong at Marvel in 2011
And I really don't believe the big loss in the last round meant anything. We were on top in in the GF till we faded and Reid got injured. That's the lesson. Make sure you're as physically ready for finals as possible.

In 2010 we had a perfect run into finals. A long stretch of MCG games and few injuries. 2011 we travelled to Perth and had Jolly and Reid struggling. Add a pre season bye and I'm 95% certain we win the GF in 2011.

i think that reliance on system is why our game is the most dependant on intensity
its also why we play in spurts
if this is true, we should have a higher gear than others in finals
that is my take , when I have the optimist hat on

CC has kicked 2 bags of 6 in his last 3 games against us.

Didn't Stewart still get coach's votes last week. Maybe just from Scott.
Edit: No, he didn't, my bad.

I’m strangely calm about this game. Yes we have a task with a few out, but I recall a final in Adelaide with bucks missing and licuria stepped up, it was the making of him as a player.

So I’m interested in seeing who’s going to step up tonight, with 4 to return baring further injuries, who wants to play finals.

The best "step up" game was Wellingham getting 37 touches against Melbourne in 2011. So out of the box it wasn't funny!

The more players we have out, the more I think we'll win. I think we'll make a statement tonight that our systems are still the best in the league, regardless of who's out
Gee I hope you are right and our system holds up as this game will be a good test.

I have my doubts as I still haven't gotten over our losses to Carlton and Hawthorn.

I just hope we win. I don't think too much about match ups and injuries. Just go with the flow and hope everything is OK in the end.

But there is always interest in a new bloke playing, and you hope that his inclusion will inspire the other guys to play better.

Ultimately I just want the team to go as far into the finals as possible and hopefully win the GF. On the one hand, Melbourne sheds itself of winter in September, on the other the city loses its raison d'etre when the team drops out of the competition and the season ends.

I can't believe Fly hasn't even spoken to him this season!

Some people are getting far too carried away over Fin. He would know exactly where he's at and what he needs to do to become a regular next season.
Yup - I think Fly said he talks to Fin more than any other player.

Reckon Crisp is in for a big night. Tom Mitchell as well.
