The Pies and Dogs have shown they can take it right up to Geelong. Don't write them off. The Saints are the team that have the edge of all of them at the moment. Only time will tell.

Gotta love it when you have six wins in a row, to put 3 of those teams out of the top 8, you haven't beaten anyone. Then when you notch up a win against a team who is supposed to be the only competitor to the top two, you're 'over achieving' (whatever that means).

Just suppose for a moment the following happens:-
Adelaide only loses to Saints and Geelong. It can beat Port (Adelaide's home showdown), Collingwood (we did win away from home earlier in the year), Eagles, Hawks (their season may be over and we have already beaten them this year) and Carlton (see Hawthorn)
Collingwood loses to Adelaide (see above), Bulldogs and say Hawthorn and wins the rest.
By my reckoning, we would be above yourselves.
No chance? Your arrogance will see you underdone just as it has over the past 50 years (underachievers).

Granted the Bulldogs mounted a last qtr fight back, Collingwood absolutely smashed the Bulldogs, not in stats but in general football play.
There are no excuses. No "over-achieving", umpiring decisions, stats etc. On TV it may have looked different but you only had to be at the game to understand how Collingwood picked the Bulldogs apart at will. Malthouse out-coached Rocket and Collingwood were far more disciplined and better with their execution of skill level.
Collingwood were a 5-7 goal better team all night (until the last qtr) and everyone knows it but for one reason or another, don't want to admit it.
That last qtr took a little of the gloss off over what should have been a comfortable win- again a credit to the Dogs and the spirit/belief within that team. They are a top 4 football side.

The truth bites sometimes. Can tell this by the fact you had to bother replying in this way to my justified observation of an ordinary last quarter. Collingwood deserved to win (happy?). They played better footy for the majority of the game. But they will need to show more resolve than they did last night. Stop being so precious. Truth is they almost blew it after dominating the game.

Well his opponent was a spectator but I think he was actually on the boundary line not in the crowd when Leon stood on his head .
What i don't understand is why people think we played 3 good quarters of footy and the Bulldogs only 1. We played great in the first term but both teams were pretty evenly matched in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Obviously the Dogs were better in the 4th.

I knew all the Muppets who are "So Called Footy Experts" would come out in droves ! And they havent proven me wrong with the trash that has been written so far in the thread!
At the end of the day, its only a home and away game, and we all know anything can happen in finals
Credit where credit is due to the Pies last nite for sure, but anything can happen between now and the last week in September...

I dont know if this has been mentioned (cbf reading through all these pages) but did you see Davis' just watch Ward take that mark right in front of him and didnt even make it contested, that was soft! Anyway good win by Collingwood, im dissapointed but it doesnt matter to much!

Exactly, Ward is 19 (I think) and he went straight for the ball proberly thinking he was going to get smashed and Davis let him mark it pretty much uncontested!
