I don't think we are overrating our players, I just don't think we as supporters are terribly keen to part with some of our young blokes who have shown real signs and we have put a lot of development into. I mean, some St Kilda supporters in the Luke Ball being traded thread wanted our first round pick as well as one of Ben Reid, Jack Anthony or Nathan Brown. Now that's overrating a player, opposition supporters are just as capable of it as us.

I think most supporters are prone to growing attached to players from their own team, we watch their development and we still hold hopes for them becoming great players.

In any case, it's not we as supporters who are doing the trading, it's the blokes at the footy club, so really it doesn't matter who we as supporters are prepared to give up.

Our list is under-rated in my view as we actually have a lot of talented players, mainly in the younger age group, while MM is over-rated in a sense that people always say MM brings the best out in a bunch of average players, which imo is not true.

Our defense is excellent, Presti, O'Brien, Shaw, and arguably Maxwell are genuine A grade players, and with the exception of MM's love obsession with L.Brown, is complemented by the tight checking of Toovey and co, and is the reason for our success. The reason people do not want to trade Reid and N.Brown is that they are the future of our defense and we have no one else in reserves to replace these guys. They need to hold down CHB and FB, as soon as next year, as Presti has 1 more year at most left, and if people expect to rely on L.Brown than god help us all.

Our mids, are average, Pendles and Swan are the standouts, and Davis when he actually plays there is also brilliant. However its players like Johnson, O'Bree and Lockyer who will not take us to a premiership who need replacing by our young mids.

Our forwards are actually quite good, but failed to fire last season, Medhurst and Cloke just never got into it, leaving the burden of carrying the forward line to Anthony who did a stellar job in his second season as a FF. Our rucks are average to poor, Wood is starting to hit his straps, but he is young and will have his ups and downs still, Fraser looks finished, and that is why Jolly would be a great adition no doubt.

However recruiting seasoned players by trading our young key players will leave the likes of L.Brown, Johnson, Lockyer and O'Bree in the team without replacements, and I don't believe we will ever win a premiership with these players in the team. It will be the improvement of guys like Sidebottom, Beams, N.Brown, Reid, Anthony, and Wood which will earn us a premiership.

There is no point trying to bundle duds such as Cook into trade deals, we should trade where we have a surplus, such as HBF's, and the two young players I'd be offering up first would be Dawes and Goldsack, who actually have some worth.
