Have Edwards and Ellis ever played back before? And Brad Hill? Really?
Ellis back regularly. Edwards, not so much. Just put Edwards in Hills place

Errr, Hombsch? Easily ahead of Chaplin.

Lonie kicked 12 goals this season. Garlett kicked 40.

Jetta is one of the best small defenders in the league. Put him on a small forward and odds on he will beat him. He's in the back pocket.

Brayshaw yes. Petracca maybe, after he plays a game or two. But Parish? He hasn't even been drafted. You think that little of these three teams combined?

Goddard isn't overtaking T Mac in his second year. He isn't coming close.

Here's how I think it would look. I've regrettably left out Salem, Brayshaw and Billings.

FB: Jetta ~ McDonald ~ Fisher
HB: Hanley ~ Carlisle ~ Rich
C: Vince ~ Beams ~ Montagna
HF: Newnes ~ Riewoldt ~ Zorko
FF: Garlett ~ Hogan ~ Bruce
R: Gawn/Martin ~ Rockliff ~ Tyson

I: Jones ~ Steven ~ Viney ~ Armitage

That's fair on Garlett, he had a great year. My bias is clearly showing. I think Martin gets in ahead of Gawn. Billings when fit extremely stiff. Very similar player to Zorko. Would replace him on a flank imo. I think Newnes is more suited to a half back role. Maybe swap him and Hanley. I think Brayshaw over Tyson, but I have only seen more of Brayshaw so I don't know if that's silly or not.

The Maribyrnong River super team of North, Bulldogs and Essendon:

Bulldogs: 6
Easton Wood was the second best defender in the comp this year behind Rance, he makes any team with Dogs in it. 10x the player Atley is.

Firrito!!??

Reckon Dale Morris might just edge him.

Jetta is seriously underrated, didn't see him get beaten much at all last year.

From a Saints perspective I would want Roberton in there, possibly instead of Fisher?

Clearly Essendon deserve the most players ... and obviously Colyer was a clear choice for the side

Not sure why but I always wanted to see a mini competition at the end of the season with combined teams

Team 1 - 1st, 18th, 12th
Team 2 - 2nd, 17th, 11th
Team 3 - 3rd, 16th, 10th
Team 4 - 4th, 15th, 9th
Team 5 - 5th, 14th, 8th
Team 6 - 6th, 13th, 7th

So

Team 1 - Fremantle, Carlton, Collingwood
Team 2 - West Coast, Brisbane, GWS
Team 3 - Hawthorn, Gold Coast, Geelong
Team 4 - Sydney, Essendon, Port Adelaide
Team 5 - Richmond, St Kilda, North Melbourne
Team 6 - Bulldogs, Melbourne, Adelaide

I wonder which team would win.

Team 3 would literally be Hawthorn with Ablett, Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and maybe Harry Taylor thrown in, that team would never be beaten

Adelaide and Port

B: Brown - Trengove - Hombsch
HB: Broadbent - Talia - Laird
C: Gray - Boak - Wines
HF: Wingard - Walker - Lynch
FF: Betts - Dixon - Westhoff
R: Jacobs - Sloane - Thompson
I: Ryder - Smith - Hartlett - Ebert

Emg: B Crouch Douglas Lobbe

12 Port
10 Adelaide

Crouch fully fit is definitely in but hasn't played since 2014. Would like thoughts from South Australians.

Would love to see a Brisbane 01-03, Geelong 07-11 and Hawthorn 13-15 team
There was something along those lines being 'discussed' in one of the 'which modern team is better' shitfight thread involving those three clubs.
No idea if there was any meaningful contributions or whether it was basically a case of '18 of the 22 players will be from my team, and the bench can be from the other two' suggestions.

Probably should get a neutral fan to create it.

Yeah, that could be a good idea.
It's always tough comparing, particular when things change so bloody often from year to year. Comparisons would be a little easier if all teams had been playing the same 'game' during their eras, no doubt.

I'd imagine it would be akin to picking the AA side - weed out the bottom 6-8 or so of each team, left with roughly 40 or so genuine options, but then if you're genuinely wanting to structure a 'proper side', leaving out some superstar midfielders would be an absolute nightmare, not to mention comparing KPP's/flankers/goal sneaks etc who may all have brought something slightly different to their sides that were required/valued within their own team's structures/game plans but may not be as valuable outside of it.

Do you run with a dominant ruckman? Or a more flexible one who perhaps isn't as good at rucking but has more strings to his bow? (hypothetical, haven't even considered the options). Similarly with backmen - flankers? 3rd man ups? spoilers? Or only room for KPP's?

I reckon we could fill a thread going back and forth until the cows come home with choosing a combo side :D

But one thing is for certain - Aker gets in for the handstands :p

I am completely bewildered by Colyers inclusion. Didn't Shaun Higgins make the All Australian squad? Didn't Tory Dickson just kick 50 goals?
