Have they always gone live against the gate for the cricket in Melbourne? Combined with ODI overkill it has to have a massive effect on the crowd.

I mean I can go for free tomorrow and I'm not sure if I can be bothered going when I can just watch on tv.

Agreed. England have shown they can face fast bowling. Lee and Tait can push 150 all they like, the English batsmen simply don't care, they aren't scared, nor are they missing many of the balls they bowl. Spinners take the pace off the ball and can at least tie batsmen down for a bit, and normally get aggressive batsmen out.

On another note though, if people are going to keep whingeing about Brad Hodge missing out on the team, spare a thought for James Hopes. Would easily get into the side as a batsman alone or a bowler alone, but because he is an all-rounder, and we have Watson, he's out of the side.

Hopes would also add some much needed variety to the bowling attack. A bunch of bowlers more interested in the speed gun than the stumps isn't going to get Australia far. One may be okay, and that one can be Johnson, but having this many in the team is just stupid.

Especially with Watson as a medium fast option, and our pace bowling allrounders (Hopes, Christian, McDonald) are miles better than our spin bowling allrounders.

It would hurt to do it, but if I was a betting man I'd have to be with you. England are a better team and freakish individual performances are the only way I can see Australia getting a win. That's not to say Watson can't pull that off though.

Depends where they play. Of they won't worry about pace on slow decks or roads but pitches with something in it then they'll soon think about facing bowling at such pace. At the other end of the extreme in tipping facing Tait pushing 160k in Perth or the Gabba and they'd feel most highly uncomfortable.
