I have blocked Cornes from entering my sphere at all , no Sen , no channel 9 , blocked on twitter. It’s amazing how much better my well being is . You guys should consider it . I am a 53 year old man who loves footy but loves north more. To have an inbred south Australian constantly deriding our club was too much for me to deal with. So SEN has lost a daily 20plus year listener and I am all the better for it .

Why is the arse clown corn francis always defending how good mumys boy is? No one disputes his ability. Its the dirty underhanded way he got to poort thats the issue.
This is exactly it, no surprises coming from him, but nearly all of the media are guilty of it too. Always along the lines of "why is he getting booed, he's actually playing well" "it's a bit rich booing a player when you're ten goals down" "JHF and Port have the last laugh.." etc. It is no surprise he's playing well.. we saw the potential and used the number one draft pick on him! We know we are currently sh!t! We drafted him to try and get better and he (with PA and his stepdad pulling the strings) did the dirty on us and wasn't prepared to dig in with us. Him playing well somewhere else, while we are still struggling is exactly the reason so many people are booing!

I get most of my footy news on here, from Giantroo and others, or on twitter. Can't remember the last time I listened to SEN or watched Footy Classified and the like. The standard of footy media seems to be at an all time low point, it's rife with clickbait articles and ridiculous knee jerk overreactions to on field incidents or to comments from players or other media talking heads. Unfortunately, this low point point for footy coverage has coincided with us being at such a low point as well.
There are a few good journos and sources of footy news out there, though they are mainly off-Broadway to some degree, like: Jonathan Horn (the Guardian), the ABC website has some good and in-depth footy analysis pieces, the various North podcasts (North Pod, Hashtag Kangaroos & Further North) and others like The Mongrel Punt, Stats Insider, Rookie Me Central etc

I wouldn't even know this bloke existed without bigfooty so I agree completely. No clicks from me.

Lol. Exactly, no shit. He's getting booed because he had no intention of ever displaying his ability at North Melbourne and the football public can smell bullshit a mile away - we get enough of it from AFL headquarters to be experts.

The criticism of Corr is valid - 700k for a third tall who's been average at best since he got here (and wasn't massively rated while at GWS) isn't great. Lumping Logue in though is laughable. He's 8 games in, been pretty good and one of most consistent (not exactly setting the Olympic high jump record for clearing a high bar I know). On top of that, his "big money" deal of 500k a year is only 100k more than the average AFL salary and is about the "overpay" the back-to-back wooden sooner needs to convince the WA boy to leave semi-finalist Freo, where he actually was rated highly, and join them.

Logue is a great deal. If we could get 4 more players of his capability on similar money we'd be well on our way. We don't need 10 of the best in the comp - we need 10 genuine best 22 players to support some of the genuine talent we already have and replace some others.

This. The Logue deal was a great bit of business.

9 other clubs were in for him and spoke to his manager. 9.

Has Cornes has said he loves getting into our heads.
We are his entertainment.
A few of the other media people are starting to recognise this and calling him out.

Cornes pokes and prods with silly statements until he gets a reaction, then he bangs on about it forever.

Eg: North, JHF, Ginnivan, Taranto, Tex Walker, Polec

9 times out of 10 his statements are about sides lower on the ladder because there is already a level of anger with the supporters and they’re ready for a fight.

Cornes is Hutchy's version of Skip Bayless!!!

Logue is front loaded at 700K, So in 2-3 years we'll have money to give to either Sheezel, Wardlaw who ever we draft this year.

It’s an absolute lie we are paying Corr $700k per year.

Reports at the time:
“North Melbourne recruit Aidan Corr has reportedly signed a five-year deal worth $2.75 million”

Free agent compensation for GWS was pick after their 2nd rounder which is inline with that contract.

We would’ve heavily front loaded as well.

The inbred South Australian comment gave me a nice chuckle.

Herald Sun Footy Podcast: North Melbourne poses a compelling priority pick quandary

They’re battling injuries and a “lack of real talent”, but are the Kangaroos worse right now than Fitzroy? Check out the Herald Sun Footy Podcast for all the news, trade talk and media buzz

May 16, 2023 - 6:00PM

North Melbourne should “absolutely” be afforded a priority pick as they battle a situation more dire than that of Fitzroy, according to Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph.

Ralph joined the Herald Sun Footy Podcast to discuss the troubles of the flailing Roos, and what he believes would be a “compelling” case to league headquarters for a priority pick.

“They’re much worse than Fitzroy right now. Officially, the club is saying ‘we won’t contemplate it until the second half of the season, we hope to be able to win a string of four or five games … if we end up winning eight, of course we wouldn’t put that request in’,” he said.

“I think we all know how their season is going … they’ll scrounge one or two – they’re not going to win five (games).

“Their priority pick request will be absolutely compelling.”

Ralph said the worries for the club went far beyond the lengthy injury list.

“The worry right now is not just that they’ve got a lot of injuries or that Alastair Clarkson is distracted by the Hawthorn investigation,” he said.

“They just don’t have a lot of talent. What is even more worrying is that they’ve already traded out the picks that they got for their draft assistance in Darcy Tucker and (Griffin) Logue.

”There’s no way (with their current draft hand) they get back to the Geelongs and Richmonds and even Carltons of the world in terms of talent.

“I would think if you’re the AFL, you might potentially give them a mid first-rounder, or an end of first-rounder

“They need ways to get more talent, otherwise they’re in the doom and gloom forever.

“They’ve made significant mistakes all along ... and it adds up to a list that doesn’t have enough talent.”

He said that Hawthorn opting to cull its list and West Coast’s 2018 premiership glory meant assistance would be off the table for them, but that North Melbourne continually being “blown out of the water” had skewed the competition to be “17 teams and North Melbourne”.

“I don’t think the history matters (of whether they should get consecutive years of assistance),” Ralph said.

“What (they) would be looking at … is we can’t have teams that drag down the league like North Melbourne.

“Right now, they’re an impediment to the league. The league can say ‘suck it up, it’s your own fault’ … or (they can help). Give them the right package … elite picks that will actually help them climb up the ladder.”

Yes a list as bad as any team ever but let's just throw a mid first round or end of first round rather than the top of first round that Gold Coast most recently got in 2018. Or that the following clubs also got over the years and for being substantially better performed than us:

Melbourne (2009, 2003, 1997)
Carlton (2007, 2005, 2003)
Hawthorn (2005, 2004)
Collingwood (2005, 1999)
Western Bulldogs (2004, 2003)
Richmond (2004)
StKilda (2001, 2000)
West Coast (2001)
Fremantle (2001 - traded to Hawthorn)

I wonder which clubs it is that are resisting the AFL granting a top of first round priority pick to us. Wouldn't be any of these clubs surely?

What is even more worrying is that they’ve already traded out the picks that they got for their draft assistance in Darcy Tucker and (Griffin) Logue.

Exactly what choice did we have?
