Wow… didn’t take long, Tarryn Thomas redemption story already rolling.

Nathan Buckley Buckley on SEN reciting a good character story about Tarryn going out of his way driving 3 hours to visit a club sponsors dying mother in hospital. He stated there is obviously some goodness in the kid and hopes he comes back to the AFL.

This is a very reasonable statement given the circumstances. The club and individual are showing remorse, they've accepted what Webster did was wrong and will accept the consequences of his actions. None of the Collingwood type carry on over Maynard's hit on Brayshaw. The timing of the statement is perfectly fine.

I feel like the Saints have been backed into a corner because of what Webster's family did. If Webster hits Simpkin, it's a really bad look and he goes to the tribunal and he gets his whack. The Saints do their presser the day afterwards and they wrap their arms around Webster, whatever. It's a bad look for the game and it's a bad look for the Saints and the AFL and everything but it probably goes away a little faster.

But Webster's family jeering and posting their shit little gear on Facebook adds a whole other element to it. You can't lean as hard on the "he's a positive character" angle, because his family is actively cheering a potentially career ending concussion. I don't think the Saints club has done anything wrong by posting those statements - indeed I think they are actually fairly reasonable and genuine and appropriately times - but I don't think they'd have needed to send them out if there wasn't the added garbage from Webster's family.

You'd hardly blame Jy if in the phone call Webster apparently put in, Jy asked Webster what he thought about his family embarrassing themselves all over Facebook. Also suits the Saints to have the Clarkson angle to hit (the leak has so clearly come from them) and for the AFL to have something else to take the slightest bit of attention away from a really, really bad incident that parents around the country are having piped into their living rooms hourly, and for at some least some of them, might be wondering if their kids might be better served playing soccer or basketball instead.

What Webster's family posted has no bearing on the incident, the club's response or outcome of the tribunal, the commentators, and media, were straight on to it not a moment's hesitation even Leigh 'Touring Arden Street' Montagna didn't try to tow the company line. Their comments are a side note and just show the type of people his family are. As for Clarko's comments he only has himself to blame, by all means defend your player but choose your words carefully the same point could have been made with out calling him a c*cksucker.

Serious hat on there’s very little love to be gleaned targeting mods on any forum, we’re all volunteers, we have our triumphs and foibles. Some of us are just more handsome.

It does demonstrate however when the heat is applied like today the tribes band together and there’s little tolerance on either side to fuel the flame. What might have been a simple delete or day off has seen extended holidays given. It’s why it’s always better to either stay on team forums or battle it out on neutral ground.

Being a mod doesn't shield someone from criticism or ridicule when they're acting like a muppet.

In fact, considering that the mods are predominantly responsible for setting the tone and culture of their individual boards, I'd say they are deservedly held to a higher standard.

The St Kilda boards are absolutely feral.
