I actually appreciate the German approach you’ve taken there.
Gott in Himmel Lomas. Don’t remind me of the old days when I was working on SAP with a cohort of German developers. My only conversational German was the stuff I read in “Battler Britain” and similar WW2 action comics.

The club knew that when it decided to sack him and not just suspend him for the entire 2024 season. Quite a few of us were suggesting that he just be suspended for the year so that we could trade him or receive free agency compensation. In response, lots of people said no, no, that would send the wrong message, he should be sacked immediately. That's what the club did and we will pay a significant price for that decision.
Gezuz that’s ordinary by us then.

Not really, if we suspended him we still get blowback for any crap he gets up to in the interim. The whole point of the exercise was to get some clean air from the whole debarcle.
Yeah I understand. Gunna be annoying watching him tear it up for another side on the back of “Culture” after we gave him everything and got nothin in return.

There was not going to be a bidding frenzy on TT if we simply suspended him and kept him on our list to trade. He might get one club willing to throw him a lifeline. But they would not be prepared to give up anything inside pick 40 for him because they know they can play hardball and wait for us to delist him.

it will absolutely ****ing hurt if he plays for another AFL team next year. It will hurt even ****ing worse because we will get no compensation for it. People saying it wouldn't be 'fair' are right, but that's just ****in' life aint it? Certainly doesn't change the fact that I 110% believe we made the right choice by cutting all ties with him as quickly and finally as possible.

Exactly. If a club picks him up, it's because he's free. The deal becomes more and more untenable if they have to spend picks to grab him.
