Kouta was clearly the league's best in 2000.

Congrats on Cooney. Had a brilliant start to the season, fell away a bit as the season progressed, but was hardly poor. Neither Black, Richardson nor Goodes had second halves to write home about, so he was hardly alone in that regards.

No doubt that Ablett was 08's best, but injury cost him. Harvey and Bartel both inexplicably didn't poll - Bartel was very surprising given he went in as a favourite, coming off a Brownlow. At the end of the day, to many others taking votes off him, with the umpires favouring Ablett, Corey, Selwood and Stevie J.

Thank god Cooney won the medal.

The medal count was a complete shambles until it finally eventuated in a worthy winner.

Imagine if Simon Black had of won it (the guys a star, but theres no way he had a brownlow year) or if Goodes won it being ineligible, depite having a very average season. That would have been perplexing.

Would have loved to see little Gazza win it though.

Maybe its me but someone made the point earlier, and im saying it again, but with all the dominance that Geelong has had this year im not suprised that they are got a even(ish) amount of votes.... isn't that the team policy (from watching on tv) is to work as a team and share it around and not rely on on person in perticular??? because i'm sure even as a supporter the Geelong people would rather a premiership (another one) than ablett to win a brownlow.. get over it or trade him and let him dominate by himself in a shit team haha

The Brownlow is a highly credible indicator of the best players during the season. Black, Goodes and Mitchell all polled well and were duly recognised with All Australian hon... oh wait...

Koutoufides - arguably the greatest ever year by a player, only to lose the browlow to shane wo-who?

Cooney was a deserving winner. Had ablett played every game he wouldve been the deserving winner on stage tonight.
