I guess we better play the role then.

You, my fellow BF poster are a tool.

Along with others, especially Cheshire Cat, show some humility and even a single ounce of respect. You are showing yourselves up as the complete childish simpletons, lacking all credibility that you are. Grow the f up!

Cooney is a deserving winner, as would have been Ablett, Harvey & Richardson if their numbers came up on top.

Enjoy your time in the sun Cooney, also to the humble Hawthorn and Geelong supporters for their big week :thumbsu:

Rash generalisation alert. Please explain why I'm a "tool", using evidence from my posts.

Where have I not shown humility or an ounce of respect. Again, use evidence from my quotes, rather than generalising.

You've got it all wrong; you've seen some words written, you haven't thought, and you've lost it.

I've not once complained about Ablett not winning this year's Brownlow. I've also not once complained about Cooney winning this year's Brownlow.

All I've said is that the system is flawed if players like Black, Goodes and other non-All Australians are polling so highly that they're in contention. And on the other hand, players like Hodge are receiving 2 votes for the season.

Get your facts completely straight please.

Well done Adam Cooney! a deserving winner and a likable lad! which I had a hundred dollars on it, would have payed really well!

I personally thought Ablett should have won, but he missed three games and Cooney polled more thats life!

Re: Congratulations Adam Coney 2008 Brownlow Medalist

Pathetic winner.

This is not right. For whatever reason you may have thought somebody else should have won, the arbiters thought otherwise, and maybe they were a helluva lot wiser and unbiased that you.

Our team never looked like coming up with a winner, so just be gracious about an opposition youngster who played well enough to win.

My comments towards you was based on numerous posts throughout the 20 odd page read culminating in your below post, which showed utter disdain, disrespect and contempt with your snide sarcastic remark...

The remainder of my post was aimed mainly at Peanuts like Hoova and The Donners.

Look, ALL I ASK IS give the bloke some credit instead of justifying why he shouldnt have won it etc

cant people just be happy for the bloke ?

Honestly !

Just trying to have a sensible discussion about the limitations of the Brownlow. Speaking of low, no need for that type of stuff mate.

I think a frank discussion about the Brownlow voting is totally valid. It is an extremely contentious topic which I believe will always cause much debate, no matter how it is modified sadly.

Another BF noob, they are all over the board. For god sake, get a life and give credit where its due.
Yeah he's great, and a deserving Brownlow winner.. however, Ablett is the best and fairest player in the league. Who'd Cooney have taking votes off him? Boyd, Cross, Griff... Gaz had half his team. Also, Cooney had twice as many votes than the nearest dog. WB: 83 votes.. Geel: 112 votes.

I'm giving him credit.. he's just not the league's best is all I'm saying. But that's the Brownlow Medal.

Someone mentioned Woewodin and Libba earlier, in the same sentence as Cooney. Not even in the same ballpark as far as talent goes, but guts can take you a long way ...

Playing the last six or seven matches with a cracked kneecap is gutsy. As for the many times I've read on BF that Libba is the worst ever to win Charlie, well, he managed to win the medal after missing three matches due to injury, unlike someone else we know.

Right - so you're saying Libba >>> Ablett :D

Awww, you almost made a good point there but you messed it up at the end.

Libba wasn't the worst brownlow medalist, Brad Hardie and Brian Wilson were... then comes Libba, find me non-Bulldog supporter that disagrees.

Why isn't he worthy?

Please explain.
Maybe worthy was the wrong word for Cooney winning but I just didn't rate him in the top 5 players of the year. As I said congratulations to the guy - a great feat to do. Don't understand how this site turns into a bagging match with clubs though - just because I'm an Essendon supporter it turns into a slanging match - I'm just someone having an opinion. You would be rapped with your clubs efforts this year - well done and hope it continues on next year.

Honestly some people need to open their other eye and get past the fact that Ablett, Bartel, Richo didn't win it.

I don't care who you support, if you watch football and you know football you know that Cooney is a very worthy winner.

He is one of the most important Bulldog players and was in the top 10 in the comp this season.

Did the coaches get it wrong when they had him in the top 5 of the coaches award?? The Brownlow is an award where any player who is good enough to be considered in the top 5 or so players that year can win.

THis year it was Cooney. He deserved it. He is good enough. He is a champion and possibly a future superstar of the game.

Get over it.

Re: Congratulations Adam Coney 2008 Brownlow Medalist

I think not.

Worst post ever would go something like this

"Adam Cooney is a deservng Brownlow winner, much more deserving than say Ablett, by far the best player in the comp for the last two years"
Have a sook. The reason is that you have won so many games over the past 2 years and the whole rest of your team has been stealing votes off of Gaz. Very difficult for him to win when there's a different Cat starring every week.

It's one or the other, would you like your whole team to be dominant or have Ablett win a brownlow for being a standout on your team?

Libba wasn't the worst brownlow medalist, Brad Hardie and Brian Wilson were... then comes Libba, find me non-Bulldog supporter that disagrees.

Let's also not forget Gavin Wanganeen. Great player throughout his careeer but seriously at the time.............find me an Essendon supporter that disagrees.

Not the worst winner ever but he's certainly not in the top 10 players of 2008. Besides his lucky win gives the bulldogs fans something to cling to.:)

The AFL coaches had him in the top 5
The Lou Richards Medal had him top 5
Brownlow had him number 1
Your little mate G. Ablett had him top 5 last night on that shitty show too.

I guess your opinion outweighs the people in the know. :)
